What's happening? Lot of the same around here.<br />
<br />
Like I promised last month, here I am with a review of the manis I wore during February. It's gonna be a long one - hold on tight! <br />

We'll start off the month in review with ChG For Audrey with OPI Pirouette My Whistle. I lemminged after that glitter for a while - it's perfect for a bit of sparkle on top of pretty much any color.<br />

February is all full of hearts and flowers, and because of that, I went with a couple different pink looks. This is Zoya Reece. Gorgeous pink with green-gold flash. This was one of my first Zoya purchases. I added the last pic to show how strong the green-gold flash can be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

OPI Black Cherry Chutney - another long-time lemming. This is such a gorgeous, glowy (in the right light), vampy color. This mani only lasted one night because...well...it didn't survive a night of pretty rowdy drinking. And that's all I've got to say about that.<br />

My first Butter London: Lady of the Muck. Pretty cornflower blue with just a touch of shimmer. I added pink and white striping for decoration. The wear on this was decent but it didn't impress me enough to rush out and buy a bottle.<br />

Around Christmas when all the good sales were happening, I grabbed a trio of polish from Glitzology. This one immediately caught my eye: Nebula. Sheer black jelly with micro holo, hexie holo, AND holo stars?! SOLD!! I used two layers over Zoya Noot, a super dark green-grey. <br />

This was probably my least favorite of the group. These are Zoya Tiffany (pink-peach) and Crystal (blue). What I love about both of these is the gold flecks - it really makes the blue gorgeous.<br />

AEngland Tristam (royal blue holo) and Dragon (Kelly green holo). These are gorgeous in person - I could not capture the holo correctly to save my life. I could see myself wearing these much more frequently if they didn't chip like a biatch...and that's even with using Nfu Oh Aqua Base. So, so pretty.<br />

Color Club started coming out with some killer holos. THANK YOU COLOR CLUB! This is Cloud 9, a gorgeous, super strong pale pink holo. I've seen the second collection and they're just as pretty as the first. Want. them. all!!<br />

There ya go...the whole month of February. Which is your favorite? Any suggestions/special requests for March? I'm back for another installment of random manis from 2012 that I found when trying to clean up my desktop. Good times.<br />
<br />
You can find <a href="http://kitschysuburbia.blogspot.com/2013/02/misc-nails-2012-part-1.html" target="_blank">Part 1 HERE</a>. <br />
<br />
And now for Part 2.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Starting off strong with Zoya! This is Jem and Aurora. I am so glad that holos are making a comeback because each one is more beautiful than the last.<br />

Pretty glitter gradient using a black creme base (don't remember which one, exactly) and Walking on Broken Glass from the Ulta mini collection Glazed and Confused. I liked this collection so much that I picked one up for a polish exchange thing I do every month. <br />

I am embarrassed to admit that I have no idea what this color is. I want to say it's a China Glaze but damned if I know. How horrible is that? *sigh* I can tell you that I didn't think there was enough little tiny purple glitter so I added a coat of Milani One Coat Glitter in Twinkle.<br />
<br />

Maybeline Downtown Brown. I want to like this color, but I don't. It's so pretty in the bottle but just does not deliver for me. It's a red-based brown with a teal flash. The formula was HORRIBLE and I just couldn't get it to cover completely. I searched for a month for this color (it was LE) and I am disappointed I found it.<br />

NerdLacquer Event Horizon. Hello, gorgeous!! I've heard rumblings of NerdLacquer coming back but nothing concrete. I hope she comes back - she had the BEST nerd-tastic polishes. This one finished a little bumpy but an extra coat of topcoat cleared that up, no prob!<br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This was a second Halloween mani. I started with a base of OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow, a green so dark, it's almost black, and sponged on Zoya Ivanka for a glitter gradient. I love glitter gradients (if you couldn't tell). I wore something very similar to this for <a href="http://kitschysuburbia.blogspot.com/2011/10/its-pronounced-fronkensteen.html" target="_blank">Halloween 2011</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4GKvhK8kJTsr2qWyfMhD54Mh5LrVjX0y1r4SR7tBXJ21DiND_qepFUEBRNo9DlvRbpO4j_Kz64kELIuBb0MYbZkGXF6Sj87GBg2YpEcFJu-QweQscdjCtP31LgvnPVx_zv6P-nCsyPrYn/s1600/christmas1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4GKvhK8kJTsr2qWyfMhD54Mh5LrVjX0y1r4SR7tBXJ21DiND_qepFUEBRNo9DlvRbpO4j_Kz64kELIuBb0MYbZkGXF6Sj87GBg2YpEcFJu-QweQscdjCtP31LgvnPVx_zv6P-nCsyPrYn/s320/christmas1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I have a very love-hate relationship with matte polishes. It seems the only way I can handle them is if there's chunky glitter on top...like this. The green is actually a matte polish: Zoya Veruschka. The glitter is one of my faves: China Glaze Party Hearty. Great combo for Christmas!<br />
<br />
Don't worry...there might be more...I have more cleaning to do! Hope you liked them.Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-65885216431070704792013-02-02T15:20:00.000-08:002013-02-02T15:20:32.155-08:00Misc Nails 2012 - Part 1<br />Hello, again! I went through some of my manis from 2012 and I thought I'd share some of them with you now. <br />
<br />
Ready for lots of pictures? I'm splitting this up in to two parts because there were quite a few pictures and I didn't want to overload you all in one sitting.<br />
<br />
Part 1<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLT0xY7ev5yM12suVNb9Wvl28Arh4J1G-59HBb_o9HhyYVT1pRdPpWZUzSmPNVjj_8paZ1JuLBp972VuFSFc_RRaxeN1TN2c5nUF7bceY_IXkXkIvCrtQcZgna8eXXdTxTfMO_wUeKAPf6/s1600/snowcone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="196" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLT0xY7ev5yM12suVNb9Wvl28Arh4J1G-59HBb_o9HhyYVT1pRdPpWZUzSmPNVjj_8paZ1JuLBp972VuFSFc_RRaxeN1TN2c5nUF7bceY_IXkXkIvCrtQcZgna8eXXdTxTfMO_wUeKAPf6/s320/snowcone.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Orly Snowcone with KleanColor Blue Holo as an accent. I waited a long time to get Snowcone and I have no idea why. It's super pigmented and *bonus*, it doesn't stain! A big thank you to <a href="http://nailstah.com/" target="_blank">Nailstah</a> for the KleanColor way back in 2011.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Zoya Evvy (dark green-grey creme) and Zoya Quinn (deep berry). The contrast of these colors was really great IRL...couldn't exactly capture it in pictures.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Zoya Bevin (mint) and Zoya Kristen (blue-based grey) with a little NYC Love Letters for some sparkle. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWVvjqgqou_ts4SpgYFrO1lOcsArqx1oFQe9bCAdYyD1GxYhJw1P5lThqZo7ThSkxcJymdMxkaA5PRsa0hQnmlDnCl-QKz8lIeMWHxaTLSVxGPy4jch2dYl1k_zqzXWd-W6Fl3qGkWNV1R/s1600/halloween1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWVvjqgqou_ts4SpgYFrO1lOcsArqx1oFQe9bCAdYyD1GxYhJw1P5lThqZo7ThSkxcJymdMxkaA5PRsa0hQnmlDnCl-QKz8lIeMWHxaTLSVxGPy4jch2dYl1k_zqzXWd-W6Fl3qGkWNV1R/s320/halloween1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Color Club Revvvolution (black holo), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Orange Crush, black striping polish and a bit of silver holo glitter to give it some pow. Obviously, this was a Halloween mani. I was feeling kind of uninspired for Halloween this year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVuJRtZwNBOxcP7Va0E9D2UxkKZwbRWlP5ANnRUbn9tWPCltUuToBVVYSUru8CM_7U5DVVijJsSZ3CRn3KyPlKQMHR1qV2S566MtTvuyyBV6vQYIHNJPwhpaAubsp4UzStPv3gUBZtaEb/s1600/purpleglitter1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVuJRtZwNBOxcP7Va0E9D2UxkKZwbRWlP5ANnRUbn9tWPCltUuToBVVYSUru8CM_7U5DVVijJsSZ3CRn3KyPlKQMHR1qV2S566MtTvuyyBV6vQYIHNJPwhpaAubsp4UzStPv3gUBZtaEb/s320/purpleglitter1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Milani Violet Dash (purple creme) and Milani Jewel FX Lavender as a glitter gradient. I wore this for the first annual <a href="http://www.makeupzombie.net/2012/10/southwest-sparklecon-2012.html" target="_blank">Southwest SparkleCon 2012</a> as organized by <a href="http://www.makeupzombie.net/" target="_blank">Makeup Zombie</a>. SO much fun meeting some new sparkle friends!!<br />
<br />

A plastic wrap mani using a pale pink (I haven't a clue what it was) and China Glaze Designer Satin. Super easy mani with maximum bang for your buck. I loved this one!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And last, but definitely not least, a really pretty water marble using Zoya Anja (purple) and Zoya Midori (green). This is the first marble I'd done in a while and I was happy how it turned out. I really like how some of the green faded in to the purple.<br />

I don't usually post makeup pictures but I wanted to share this one. I did this as my look for a derby bout in October. This is Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire (red) and Raven's Prophecy (black). This look took me FOREVER but it turned out just like I wanted it and it was so pretty with gorgeous sparkle (that I couldn't capture). <br />
<br />
Stay tuned for Part 2 - coming soon!Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-12438435083329359632013-01-26T18:52:00.001-08:002013-01-26T18:52:55.032-08:00January 2013<br />
I'm not announcing my comeback, I'm just going to say...I have some pretty polishes to share with you.<br />
<br />
With everything I have on my plate, I just can't blog like I used to. I still do my nails (all the time) and I usually take pictures of them, but I rarely get the time to sit down and edit the pictures. My plan, right now, is to compile my manis over the month and share them with you, in bulk, at the end of the month. Sound good? Here we go. And, like always, all pics are clickable to make bigable!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMpp_pfOUUIdiGwe6VFytE4ZBhyphenhyphenOKKStkRpi-QA7q1IwoutE3CDJnYPHoSBEtATY1YWmMIOaFFneOq77xbbCCbm9l2VE5W_IgvUl7vS2egULdOe9MxPlS8UhlsQGCD3kmkZGd7dSEifjG/s1600/pinksnow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioMpp_pfOUUIdiGwe6VFytE4ZBhyphenhyphenOKKStkRpi-QA7q1IwoutE3CDJnYPHoSBEtATY1YWmMIOaFFneOq77xbbCCbm9l2VE5W_IgvUl7vS2egULdOe9MxPlS8UhlsQGCD3kmkZGd7dSEifjG/s320/pinksnow.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This was my New Years mani. It's kinda Christmas-y and it's all Winter. I started with a base of Milani Juno. Then, using BM14, I stamped snow flakes using ChG Designer Satin and a random white. To finish it all off, I applied a layer of ChG Snow Globe for a little extra sparkle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvEtOdElbmDGYs415ZWrF5RRRMjlYuVDG2Fp83qbd719_k2rM94igVmH9Wg3cWjG2wteGPChh-GAHpraxOKlIznLHzS1InAdtoZMcA-rf7Mxb-wNk5fjs0fRFjJDYKvkYjdM1ISWL-MCXO/s1600/layla1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvEtOdElbmDGYs415ZWrF5RRRMjlYuVDG2Fp83qbd719_k2rM94igVmH9Wg3cWjG2wteGPChh-GAHpraxOKlIznLHzS1InAdtoZMcA-rf7Mxb-wNk5fjs0fRFjJDYKvkYjdM1ISWL-MCXO/s320/layla1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I picked up this gorgeous polish at Ulta while on a "we gotta get out of the house NOW" trip with the bestie. I don't usually even look at the Layla polishes because they're pretty pricey, but this happened to be on sale (and I had a coupon). Layla Ceramic Effects Green Galaxy (CE 54) is a gorgeous, gorgeous deep green jelly with green micro glitter, small round green glitter and big green hexies. This polish wore like iron - definitely worth the money!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivYAGilA3SItoXC6vWuNVCGcTcajdFrZLRqduJV-mL196Zl8Tf1k1ZKf3m458ePBGekEIJ0nE78-d94JiKJ1tnNSOi_VzdyhBr_b51GxX9pKFXaCUIIif2YyBInMDMbs5hPL_eqGM4EJy2/s1600/royal1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivYAGilA3SItoXC6vWuNVCGcTcajdFrZLRqduJV-mL196Zl8Tf1k1ZKf3m458ePBGekEIJ0nE78-d94JiKJ1tnNSOi_VzdyhBr_b51GxX9pKFXaCUIIif2YyBInMDMbs5hPL_eqGM4EJy2/s320/royal1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQAsPJJLGioJEF7RKSQUK2H8TBCySVhfjbj-qvI13zWp6m_yvoChMwuAYKA8bTTlJ-NnRCtws2fybAENh6HPxBNNGksYSbD5iA0SlaAVRYtBsjfysK-uhhmHwKRyBKe-DkUZUfTQW_zYmn/s1600/royal2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQAsPJJLGioJEF7RKSQUK2H8TBCySVhfjbj-qvI13zWp6m_yvoChMwuAYKA8bTTlJ-NnRCtws2fybAENh6HPxBNNGksYSbD5iA0SlaAVRYtBsjfysK-uhhmHwKRyBKe-DkUZUfTQW_zYmn/s320/royal2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I was feeling in a nail funk when I did this and it snapped me out of it right away! I started with a base of Revlon Royal (probably one of my top 10 fave polishes ever). After that, I stamped the pretty flowers using Orly Snowcone and BM224. I added pretty purple rhinestones in the center of one flower on each nail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCkDATqhPkYLbhM9VcWuNuq2v5P43lj3f-xOPYo84fL3fKbDE77dZoe9o4svlqkmylqadySJrREtEIPFS6T60GTZxhJ0lqfcmOKVLm-5obfYkOC85e3B6nLh0Vg6minywDpeYIGIPlok87/s1600/alix.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCkDATqhPkYLbhM9VcWuNuq2v5P43lj3f-xOPYo84fL3fKbDE77dZoe9o4svlqkmylqadySJrREtEIPFS6T60GTZxhJ0lqfcmOKVLm-5obfYkOC85e3B6nLh0Vg6minywDpeYIGIPlok87/s320/alix.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I did this one originially for a "glitter" challenge for a FB group I'm in, but I couldn't get a good picture of it. You can't go wrong with a classic red nail! This is Zoya Alix with Milani Glitter FX in Red. The Milani claims to be "one coat" but for this much coverage, I started with a coat of Alix and then layered 3 layers of the glitter. That's not what I'd call one coat! I wore this for 4 days and love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSvaHOjemziENP6r04BGr3cJJ4vZmhgrUOB1x6vZVeAJgsuKgXL2Hv7RaaLZXysfQm3lnYbXdEGOloulQ7kB1GUHnrdYzdx-3Od6xIUZityz8aFJC_qZqER3-m3D8fZU7ANdsoHH27nhfF/s1600/fowlplay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSvaHOjemziENP6r04BGr3cJJ4vZmhgrUOB1x6vZVeAJgsuKgXL2Hv7RaaLZXysfQm3lnYbXdEGOloulQ7kB1GUHnrdYzdx-3Od6xIUZityz8aFJC_qZqER3-m3D8fZU7ANdsoHH27nhfF/s320/fowlplay.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp474qhJE35JFDPCzb1jmkHqFB8iuPuf64SgeV00BRjVRj4UqF85g-iaK0w4J9hlODdjFwzuqGjcGqhrbKNKO8e9ExRyeyaG9Eu4K8A5TzbwclQosI4OrkdN4VHjj-Q47_iv2YfnKlC6j7/s1600/fowlplay2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp474qhJE35JFDPCzb1jmkHqFB8iuPuf64SgeV00BRjVRj4UqF85g-iaK0w4J9hlODdjFwzuqGjcGqhrbKNKO8e9ExRyeyaG9Eu4K8A5TzbwclQosI4OrkdN4VHjj-Q47_iv2YfnKlC6j7/s320/fowlplay2.jpg" width="181" /></a></div>
<br />
This is what I ended up using for the glitter challenge. Let me tell you...this is a mess polish! I started with 3 coats of Orly Fowl Play then added a coat of Finger Paints Twisted (I loves me some flakies!). And because that wasn't enough, I ended up using a coat of Milani Jewel FX in Twilight. I am NOT looking forward to removing this (can you say "foil method"?).<br />
<br />
So...there's January. Maybe...if you're lucky...I'll post a review of a couple manis from last year later! Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-29859466955871038772012-10-03T13:54:00.000-07:002012-10-03T13:54:17.099-07:00Randomness<br />
*peeks out* Hey, there Kitchies! How the heck are ya?! I've been busy (yeah, shocker. I know.) I thought I'd take a few minutes and share some random manis with you today! Ready? I have no idea when I wore any of these. Sorry about that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is one my top 10 favorite polishes. Revlon Royal is a gorgeous, squishy royal blue jelly. I made it jelly sammich with Jordana Pixie Pink glitter. I loved this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaSkIPD-hm04G3gtZN8fp3rowsGnyxF6guc5ly9fG4wxUDcSNvsTL9YtVbldvZMgwjZTAHXKKpij5ckNJ4WXW1uVniWdhnD_Xuyr554bhOdxfVFTZE0VXqfE9XEYrYaX58PHZ5mnuyf2JM/s1600/chargedupasylum1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaSkIPD-hm04G3gtZN8fp3rowsGnyxF6guc5ly9fG4wxUDcSNvsTL9YtVbldvZMgwjZTAHXKKpij5ckNJ4WXW1uVniWdhnD_Xuyr554bhOdxfVFTZE0VXqfE9XEYrYaX58PHZ5mnuyf2JM/s320/chargedupasylum1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I caught flakey madness like everybody else did when Finger Paints released their flakey collection. This is Orly Charged Up with Finger Paints Twisted. You can't go wrong with a good flakey polish, but this mani was just kinda meh to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Zoya Faye. I want to love this. Really, I do. But I just...don't. I want the rosy purple to show through more. Most of the time, all you can see is the bright gold glass flecks. It is a pretty polish in theory. Just give me a *little* more purple...please.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IHljqX9y7zI/UBIIEXMMV1I/AAAAAAAADhQ/PIVN9xqr7c0/s1600/springflowers1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IHljqX9y7zI/UBIIEXMMV1I/AAAAAAAADhQ/PIVN9xqr7c0/s320/springflowers1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This was better in my head than it was on the nail. The green is Sinful Colors Mint Apple. I don't remember what the blue is, but it's a pretty sky blue with just a touch of shimmer. Maybe a Milani? Yep. I'm pretty sure it's Milani Beach Front. The flowers are Milani White on the Spot and Yellow Whiz (worst. polish name. ever.).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijD20Su6o8evtbPazZ0IeDoJGIyDJCmdM1fmyMvLTgMd59RRgrjFa-WSupd1zXq-RHJwaDHzwhh7GF_iWrNzAkzpvsPBweYLmzao0jAgibLBm-LttLudSXHxhlS50QARxk7b8lR1CM1p5O/s1600/whitefucshia1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijD20Su6o8evtbPazZ0IeDoJGIyDJCmdM1fmyMvLTgMd59RRgrjFa-WSupd1zXq-RHJwaDHzwhh7GF_iWrNzAkzpvsPBweYLmzao0jAgibLBm-LttLudSXHxhlS50QARxk7b8lR1CM1p5O/s320/whitefucshia1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I don't usually like white nails because they're so stark. But, when you pair it with a pretty glitter and make it a gradient, it's a win for me! This is Milani White on the Spot with Fuchsia Jewel FX. I say I don't like glitter because it's such a PITA to remove, but looks like I use it pretty often when you lump manis together like this.<br />
<br />
There ya go! Hope that holds you over for a little while. Sorry I've been so sporadic with posting - life doesn't slow down anymore. Be back soon...?<br />

Happy September, Kitschies! How is it possibly already September? Before you know it, it's going to be Halloween. And then Turkey Day. And then Christmas. *sigh* Time is moving impossibly fast. And because of that, I haven't been posting much. In fact, I didn't post at all during the entire month of August. Shame on me!!<br />
<br />
The highlights of August: Nate started 1st grade, I had my birthday, and the hubs and I got to go camping!<br />

I know most of you aren't here to see pics of my handsome little boy or of my adventures around the state, so I'll get to why you're really here: the nails!<br />
<br />
I'm going to start by saying that I have NO idea when I did this mani. But, it's pretty and I like it, so I'm going to share it with you.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2jfjCCmETP8/UBIIDJPjZCI/AAAAAAAADgg/PILXRJd5YBk/s1600/primarymarble2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2jfjCCmETP8/UBIIDJPjZCI/AAAAAAAADgg/PILXRJd5YBk/s320/primarymarble2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I believe I started with a base of white, but since it's been such a long time, I can't remember exactly. It was either white or the yellow.<br />
<br />
Anyway...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_aqDb4JCJ5c/UBIIDRo4SWI/AAAAAAAADgw/oUmu_6oQ5PU/s1600/primarymarble3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="259" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_aqDb4JCJ5c/UBIIDRo4SWI/AAAAAAAADgw/oUmu_6oQ5PU/s320/primarymarble3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I liked the idea of this one more in my head than it looked on my nails. I think I should've used a brighter blue rather than a navy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JUcfqj8k_Z8/UBIIDouFmFI/AAAAAAAADg4/nZm0vxf5tN4/s1600/primarymarble4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JUcfqj8k_Z8/UBIIDouFmFI/AAAAAAAADg4/nZm0vxf5tN4/s320/primarymarble4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my right hand. I liked the pinky nail on this hand a lot. And the thumb was good, too, until I knocked it on something and ended up with a big bald spot. But, you know when you've finished a full water marble mani, you really don't feel like redoing one if it gets messed up. Yeah. That's what happened there.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X9h8q4w0ksU/UBIID_Uu_XI/AAAAAAAADhI/uHxRj2_qYT4/s1600/primarymarble5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X9h8q4w0ksU/UBIID_Uu_XI/AAAAAAAADhI/uHxRj2_qYT4/s320/primarymarble5.jpg" width="173" /></a></div>
See...if all the nails came out like this one, with the blue really bold, I would've liked it better. Either way, it was a water marble and really...you can't completely go wrong with that.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibgqfkUW5stjgD-Qzq4K3OD2BmxfuFCwAvUgwXhNTm2SIFS1ra5o695gwb5tCL1GRRT0IF40uXpHFJQHwhh3j8MbPH4Lc-gG_sDM4HuPciQZAfXTQUFLJLSycsGdXzU2Z8m6IfqLV_wmjH/s1600/primarymarble1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibgqfkUW5stjgD-Qzq4K3OD2BmxfuFCwAvUgwXhNTm2SIFS1ra5o695gwb5tCL1GRRT0IF40uXpHFJQHwhh3j8MbPH4Lc-gG_sDM4HuPciQZAfXTQUFLJLSycsGdXzU2Z8m6IfqLV_wmjH/s320/primarymarble1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />And here's what I used. I have yet to find a yellow that I really like. A real, primary-type yellow. Any suggestions?<br />
<br />
So, there ya go. I won't promise to post more but I can tell you that I have lots of pictures prepped and just sitting there, waiting to be shared with the blogverse!!<br />

Happy September!Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-45838080588832505222012-07-30T07:12:00.000-07:002012-07-30T07:12:19.779-07:00Breakfast Nom<br />
Happy Monday, Kitschies! I hope you had a great weekend. We didn't do much this weekend. I got in a good skate Saturday morning, but other than that, we were kinda hermits...and that's ok. School starts soon and I'm sure once it starts, there will be plenty to keep us busy.<br />
<br />
When my family was here visiting, I went trolling Pinterest for some good recipes (you can follow me on Pinterest <a href="http://pinterest.com/kitschysuburbia/" target="_blank">HERE</a>). I always find lots of great things on there and this recipe I'm sharing with you today is no exception.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://sheldonrachel.blogspot.com/2009/03/french-toast-bake.html" target="_blank">French Toast Bake</a><br />
<br />
1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)<br />
1 cup brown sugar<br />
<div>
1 loaf Texas toast<br />
4 eggs</div>
<div>
1 1/2 cup milk<br />
1 teaspoon vanilla<br />
Powdered sugar for sprinkling</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Melt butter in microwave & add brown sugar....stir till mixed. Pour butter/sugar mix into bottom of 9 x 13 pan....spread around. Beat eggs, milk, & vanilla. Lay single layer of Texas Toast in pan. Spoon 1/2 of egg mixture on bread layer. Add 2nd layer of Texas Toast. Spoon on remaining egg mixture. Cover & chill in fridge overnight. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes (covered for the first 30 minutes).</div>
<div>
<br />
Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with warm maple syrup (I don't do the syrup part).</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
NOTES: This recipe can be doubled or halved. I made a full recipe for 6 adults and it was just the right amount. I half it for the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids). The second time I made this, I made it up that morning and I couldn't tell the difference.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjomH7IU_5LWLgfEqCS2k5RRFNugkMBxQtKwasEEXcow-q7AemxUkSNIBJfJAIKoLQCMgXLQvC6EH5VjsxyJQffFjwX7YyWuzKuPR5YSY1Zi7s75Z9mA9IvW0xJhe3vzSNW7UUpZ-afBdpb/s1600/frtoastbake1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjomH7IU_5LWLgfEqCS2k5RRFNugkMBxQtKwasEEXcow-q7AemxUkSNIBJfJAIKoLQCMgXLQvC6EH5VjsxyJQffFjwX7YyWuzKuPR5YSY1Zi7s75Z9mA9IvW0xJhe3vzSNW7UUpZ-afBdpb/s320/frtoastbake1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I was skeptical because you make it up ahead of time and put it in the fridge overnight. Bread in egg overnight usually equals blech. Not this time! The top layer cooks up nice and toasted and the bottom, while soggy, is still delish!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6v3YzTcADZm2YPQYvQ3I39p6MjbNbxe5lU7YDYooI_nl2OWvLq3c2fqj0A4prVzz6cARRdgOM1MBlp2T4-tkXVQAqYSlskeVeRBJnU6ABPWCljbo317rZodct2VcuprIwInnVHa2KgK2e/s1600/frtoastbake2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="279" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6v3YzTcADZm2YPQYvQ3I39p6MjbNbxe5lU7YDYooI_nl2OWvLq3c2fqj0A4prVzz6cARRdgOM1MBlp2T4-tkXVQAqYSlskeVeRBJnU6ABPWCljbo317rZodct2VcuprIwInnVHa2KgK2e/s320/frtoastbake2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
My hubs doesn't do soggy bread but he eats this without trouble. And trust me, you don't need syrup! The brown sugar and butter on the bottom makes a great caramel sauce.<br />
<br />
<div>
You should try this. I've made a few recipes I've found on Pinterest but this one is definitely one of the best.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going to try to post another Pinterest recipe later this week (along with some more nails, of course).</div>Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-3692841653063652712012-07-26T07:19:00.000-07:002012-07-26T07:41:38.824-07:00Green Things<br />
**Notice anything different? Yep. I changed things around a little. New background = new blog button! Check it out and grab one!** <br />
<br />
Good morning, Kitschies! I hope all of you in the Land of the Internets are doing well. Can you believe it's almost August?! Where has the Summer gone? I remember taking Nate to his first day of Kindergarten and now it's almost time for him to start first grade. *sigh*<br />
<br />
I've been seriously horrible about blogging lately and I'm not gonna apologize! LOL I've been skating, reading (a lot!!), visiting with family, eating (probably more than I should), and watching TV (not a lot). I'm home with Nate today and I thought I'd take advantage of the quiet (it's 7:30 and he's still in bed - that's how you know he's sick) and do some picture prep and maybe get a post (or a few, hopefully) knocked out. I was reviewing the backlog of pictures and I came across this one that I'd forgotten about.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVJoQLq0x7u6UQ3CJFkvq7Dax4tO9BsbTvGGu_IfkTW1WmCP_tlLeAdUIb1o-Plms2LbFcch6e2zs5TmjSMDYI_DlxiRu3MMq_MT-K06nH3F-Ip396ylKgyxxmWa2DMTZIjoKi9OdnfQz/s1600/midoristamp1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVJoQLq0x7u6UQ3CJFkvq7Dax4tO9BsbTvGGu_IfkTW1WmCP_tlLeAdUIb1o-Plms2LbFcch6e2zs5TmjSMDYI_DlxiRu3MMq_MT-K06nH3F-Ip396ylKgyxxmWa2DMTZIjoKi9OdnfQz/s320/midoristamp1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the gorgeous Zoya Midori. It's a beautiful lime green with a golden flash. It's bright but not overly obnoxious (say, like <a href="http://kitschysuburbia.blogspot.com/2010/10/going-green.html" target="_blank">CC What A Shock!</a>).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love how the gold flash makes this green glow. I'm not usually too partial to green polish, but this one is so pretty - it's a Zoya must have. I had a bit of a thin spot near the cuticle on a few fingers but I don't think it's the polish's fault - probably more of a rush fault on my part.</div>

Sorry this one's a little blurry. I used Bundle Monster plate BM04 and ChG Jolly Holly for the stamping.<br />
<br />
I don't usually post makeup looks but keeping in the swing of green things, I thought I'd share a look I did for the Albuquerque Comic Expo in early June.<br />

I said I'm not too partial to green nail polish...but I loves me some green eyeshadow! The gold is Fyrinnae Rapunzel Had Hair Extensions, lime green is from the Maybelline Forrest Fury palette and the dark green is a base of the darker green in Forrest Fury with Fyrinnae Dark Fantasy over top.<br />
<br />

I'm off to snuggle with Mr Nate. Fevers are the worst! Enjoy your day and come back soon - there will be more things shared on Kitschy Suburbia soon.</div>
<br />Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-26239921512880086212012-06-25T08:45:00.000-07:002012-06-25T08:52:46.132-07:00Summer Salad<br />
Good morning, Kitschies! I hope you had a good weekend and didn't melt in the heat. It's been super hot and there's no rain in sight. I'm really hoping we get some good monsoons this summer, but it's not looking like that so far.<br />
<br />
ANYway...I've been trying to eat healthier (yes, I know you've heard that from me before), but this time I'm serious. I kinda have to eat better because junk in = junk out. You're probably tired of hearing me talk about it, but derby kicks my ass...in a good way. I can practice day in and day out, but until I get my eating under control, I'm not going to see the changes I want/need to see. So, as a way to keep on top of it, I went on a "healthy" recipe hunt. You usually think healthy = tasteless (at least I do), but I did my best to make sure what I found was good for you AND tastes good, too. This is the first recipe I tried.<br />
<br />
<b>Quinoa Salad</b><br />
<br />
<b>Ingredients</b><br />
1 cup uncooked quinoa<br />
1 cup feta<br />
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed<br />
1 can (15 oz) whole kernel corn, drained<br />
Red bell pepper, diced<br />
Spinach, handful, chopped small<br />
Red onion, a few rings, diced small<br />
<br />
<b>Dressing</b><br />
1/2 cup fresh lime juice<br />
3 Tbsp red wine vinegar<br />
1/4 cup olive oil<br />
1/4 tsp Cayenne powder (more or less, depending on preference)<br />
1 Tbsp cumin<br />
1/2 tsp salt<br />
Pepper to taste<br />
<br />
Cook quinoa. To cook quinoa bring 1
1/4 cup water or chicken broth to a boil (basically the ratio is 1 part
quinoa to 1.25 part liquid). Add 1 Cup rinsed quinoa, give it a good
stir, reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 30-35 minutes**<br />
<br />
While your quinoa is simmering, make up your dressing by whisking
together all dressing ingredients. In a separate bowl add black beans
(rinsed, drained), corn (rinsed, drained), diced pepper, spinach and red
onion.<br />
<br />
Once quinoa is done cooking and has cooled, add it to the other ingredients. Pour dressing over everything. Mix up. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<b>NOTES:</b> I didn't use fresh limes - I just use the prepared juice. Next time I think I'll use a bit less cumin - it was a bit strong for my taste. And...it didn't take anywhere near 30 minutes to cook the quinoa...maybe 15-20 minutes. I didn't use all the dressing but kept the remaining dressing for a marinade - I think it'll be great on chicken.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVWtFHUPC-pxGmm_xABpY3UbS6q5uwlJfax6KeV4IUgA2GlRkNRuNSdFlGswuCBG8j3pDdcgplAZU2uiKvUvFvaFdmOYKkr04_6nvZECZEnHsx9qP5NpOwx5gfuTiD9xF4B0p7KOVgtBEQ/s1600/quinoasalad1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVWtFHUPC-pxGmm_xABpY3UbS6q5uwlJfax6KeV4IUgA2GlRkNRuNSdFlGswuCBG8j3pDdcgplAZU2uiKvUvFvaFdmOYKkr04_6nvZECZEnHsx9qP5NpOwx5gfuTiD9xF4B0p7KOVgtBEQ/s320/quinoasalad1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So colorful! I really, really like this, which is good because the hubs...notsomuch. And the kids? I didn't even ask them to try it because my <a href="http://kitschysuburbia.blogspot.com/2011/09/good-for-you.html" target="_blank">previous quinoa recipe</a> didn't go over so well with them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5vwzPpqOdDmuENUyPVKEFAM4lCdJqwpLc1CtyqrMCqGwY1BEIVUcf3d5SjfrcGmC_5wlLu5uzTHNyRNBtI-NMdH9AY-AZeZ5JkZKLAdXz6Xf8XPtfF9dqMA7BNP4_2Jm7tqeAnY8jjpAI/s1600/quinoasalad2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5vwzPpqOdDmuENUyPVKEFAM4lCdJqwpLc1CtyqrMCqGwY1BEIVUcf3d5SjfrcGmC_5wlLu5uzTHNyRNBtI-NMdH9AY-AZeZ5JkZKLAdXz6Xf8XPtfF9dqMA7BNP4_2Jm7tqeAnY8jjpAI/s320/quinoasalad2.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have been eating on this over the weekend and it's definitely better the second day - all the flavors have had a chance to marry together. I described this to my sister and she said it sounded like Greek salad, which I think is a good description. Kind of a southwest Greek salad!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's shaping up to be a busy week, so take it easy and enjoy some great summer food! Oh...and I promise to get my blog background changed soon - though it's nice to think of winter when it's so flippin' hot out!</div>Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-87883988066600967872012-06-16T09:40:00.000-07:002012-06-16T09:41:14.995-07:00Blue Skies Ahead<br />
Happy weekend, Kitschies! I hope you're busy doing things that make you happy and you have nothing but blue skies ahead. Here in the Kitschy household, I'm keeping down the fort while the hubs is on a camping trip. On today's agenda? I hope to get some cleaning done and I need to run a few errands - tomorrow is Father's Day and ideally, I'd like to get out while the hubs isn't home but that's not really looking like it's going to happen.<br />
<br />
So...in the meantime, I have a mani to share with you. I haven't a clue when I did this mani - you all know how seriously behind I am in posting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJy9r2J0xsrNOaIiLCxUxY2scyrftbkBhspGVAoivk9EKKWkGiERC1ZCyPpD4VeAvE6Jt-kGDM5xeckg95ETBssfKcTqaLpayeJR79vK8ZIDJLvx1S3e_E7JUNNiIRJMG090pG6qWLZ3zu/s1600/bluedots1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="152" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJy9r2J0xsrNOaIiLCxUxY2scyrftbkBhspGVAoivk9EKKWkGiERC1ZCyPpD4VeAvE6Jt-kGDM5xeckg95ETBssfKcTqaLpayeJR79vK8ZIDJLvx1S3e_E7JUNNiIRJMG090pG6qWLZ3zu/s320/bluedots1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is 2-3 coats of a powder blue creme from Color Club (Blue Light, maybe? It probably came in a set - those don't usually names on the bottles). As with most pastels, application was horrible. You can see drag marks on my index and ring fingers. With a dotting tool, I started with SH Thinking of Blue (navy), then combined it with white to make the cornflower blue dots. I finished off the gradient dots with SH White On.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ9uavwFr3fJM5l1Xav-tBxh5JnbCH8ieV_sz_08ZMf2W7w2qFBOfpBamoGGtH9ernWUOiTJjgPwbczQAn3bFMgAnHQ7kGmWO4b0rHAU6Xq-A3p-cMHoXLkBGYty41AqCr5Wp3mWLHzTdP/s1600/bluedots2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ9uavwFr3fJM5l1Xav-tBxh5JnbCH8ieV_sz_08ZMf2W7w2qFBOfpBamoGGtH9ernWUOiTJjgPwbczQAn3bFMgAnHQ7kGmWO4b0rHAU6Xq-A3p-cMHoXLkBGYty41AqCr5Wp3mWLHzTdP/s320/bluedots2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
All in all, I was happy with this mani. I have a question, though...how hard is it to make a pastel without it being super streaky and a pain in the butt to apply?? Do you have any tricks when it comes to applying pastel polish? I'd really love to hear them.<br />
<br />
Happy weekend! See you soon. :)Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-14307316882519126632012-06-08T17:57:00.000-07:002012-06-08T17:58:15.455-07:00I'm Still Alive<br />
Helllllooooo, Kitschies!! Hold on to your hats. It's going to be a long one...<br />
<br />
Have you forgotten about me? I haven't forgotten about you...promise!! I can't believe my last post was in MARCH...where has the time gone?! I have been really super busy with...life...but I'm taking a break and going to get you caught up a little on what I've been doing.<br />
<br />
And before I forget...thank you to those of you who've sent me emails recently. It's you who've *inspired* me to post tonight. As always, all pictures are click-able to make big-able!<br />
<br />
So...last time we talked, I was getting ready for my first derby bout. That was March 19th. The season opener was a blast! We had a packed house and DIA (my team) won their first bout.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
That's me (in front) and Carson B Demented (our team captain). Man...that first bout...I just felt lost through the whole thing. Well, the first half, anyway. Then just before the first half was over, I jacked my knee and had to sit out the rest of the time.<br />
<br />

<br />
I believe this was during the intros...they pronounced my name (Sinestra) wrong...they always do. LOL <br />
<br />

<br />
Me after my first bout. I wish I could've skated more but there was no way my knee was going to cooperate for that! After about 2 weeks of rest, I was back on my skates, ready for another go at it!<br />
<br />
I don't have many other pics of anything else in March. Oh! Easter! Or was that April? Either way...here's a few from Easter.<br />

We took the boys to ABQ Jump for Mother's Day...and even I got to jump! We had a nice lunch and the kids had fun and that's what really matters.<br />

Nate graduated from Kindergarten in May, too! Awww...my little Monkey is growing up so fast! They had a cute little ceremony for all the "graduates". I remember his first day like it was just a month ago...next thing I know, he'll be graduating from high school. *sigh*<br />

We had our second bout on May 19th - there weren't as many people but we skated great! I didn't feel like I was completely lost the second time around and my knees held up. I even got a couple of good blocks in there! Oh...and we beat the HoBots. Yay!<br />

<br />
We celebrated Mason's 3rd birthday on Memorial Day weekend because I was out of town on his actual birthday. We had family and friends gather at a park and had cupcakes to celebrate!<br />
<br />
And...I think you're up to date. The hubs and his hetero life partner have their first ever COMICS booth at Albuquerque Comic Expo this weekend! This is at least 15 (probably more like 20) years in the making. I am proud of them for finally getting their stuff together and presenting their baby to the world! I can't wait to see how it goes.<br />
<br />
I've still been doing my nails and take pictures from time to time, but I haven't done any prepping. Maybe some day (soon) I'll post a "highlights" post of the best ones from the last few months.<br />
<br />
I promise not to be gone so long this time. And I need to give my blog a facelift. It hasn't felt like winter here in New Mexico in a long, long time!!<br />

I know. I've been a stranger. Let me tell you...it's been so chaotic schedule-wise over the last few weeks. I will get everything sorted out...eventually...and get back on a more regular posting schedule. In the meantime...<br />
<br />
Let me share something pretty cool with you. On Sunday, my derby team (DIA) had their photo shoot for the new season. We met at Skate City and we had a blast!! A *huge* shout out to Shelia Lucero Photography for getting some awesome, awesome shots. All images are clickable to make biggable. :)<br />

<br />
I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.ourdandelionwishes.com/">Mamarazzi</a>,<a href="http://crazymamaof6.blogspot.com/"> Crazymama of 6</a> and <a href="http://houseofcline.blogspot.com/">Queso</a> for WWtKW again this week. The questions come from <a href="http://crazymamaof6.blogspot.com/">Crazymama</a> and are all about pampering yourself.<br />
<br />
<center><a href="http://www.ourdandelionwishes.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g328/OurDandelionWishes/WWTKbutton.jpg" /></a></center><br />
<br />
<i><b>1. What is your go-to color if you paint your nails? Do your toes and fingernails match?</b></i><br />
This is kind of a funny question for me. See...when you have over 300 (*gasp*) color choices at your beck and call, it's hard to have a go-to color. Seriously. When I get tired of my current mani, I pick whatever catches my fancy at that moment. As for the matchy-matchy...that never happens.<br />
<i><b><br />
</b></i><br />
<i><b>2. Have you ever gone for a mani/pedi? How often do you go?</b></i><br />
The last time I went for a mani? I can't even remember. However, I can tell you I do my nails 2-3 times a week at home. My last pedi was probably about 6 months ago. I usually do my own every 2 weeks or so. I think I'm pretty good at doing my own nails and since I have all the supplies already at home, why pay somebody to do it?<br />
<i><b><br />
</b></i><br />
<i><b>3. Do you color your hair? Do you have a salon do it or do you do it yourself?</b></i><br />
I hadn't colored my hair for a long time...like...before Nate was born. But, all of a sudden, I got a wild hair and decided to do it myself. I liked the color enough, but I wanted more. So I employed the assistance of my bestie to put in teal streaks. It didn't go so well...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn4IgGrqWzqU5cWKiYGbOndwe1NApaj63Ax2sCdEg42fkLDamq5-tS7BbetJ_QWgWFxHzJGjGLW7rW4lpCXUrDoe_K62Uu47B0zHMw4IlRwiKhhiileSg6hXPRoANGEg5-1kRaFUPlj7Yx/s1600/378662_2772917998582_1126989816_33118028_122444840_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn4IgGrqWzqU5cWKiYGbOndwe1NApaj63Ax2sCdEg42fkLDamq5-tS7BbetJ_QWgWFxHzJGjGLW7rW4lpCXUrDoe_K62Uu47B0zHMw4IlRwiKhhiileSg6hXPRoANGEg5-1kRaFUPlj7Yx/s320/378662_2772917998582_1126989816_33118028_122444840_n.jpg" width="261" /></a></div>And then I decided I needed a cut, so I got a cut and the salon was running a special, so I got it re-dyed. Usually I'll do it at home but the sale was for 50% off - how can you pass THAT up?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjR8fkgiYcUoQW_AquJ28umt-jguhDSGib0XcLrj6cTXksSlXMAaQybhEgVkJfzjyYkbZeWXmdKU_EDEtdlr-yzzmuBsyt7WiMF1JuAiv8szXn2F8V9_7x6fAtczrQnRN9CGPHvkHBd-ve/s1600/398665_2982238711469_1126989816_33237891_1430878740_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjR8fkgiYcUoQW_AquJ28umt-jguhDSGib0XcLrj6cTXksSlXMAaQybhEgVkJfzjyYkbZeWXmdKU_EDEtdlr-yzzmuBsyt7WiMF1JuAiv8szXn2F8V9_7x6fAtczrQnRN9CGPHvkHBd-ve/s320/398665_2982238711469_1126989816_33237891_1430878740_n.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>LOVED this color but anybody who does their hair in reds knows how high-maintenance it is. It's been about 6 weeks now and it's much more brown than red. *sad*<br />
<i><b><br />
</b></i><br />
<i><b>4. Facials...have you ever had one?</b></i><br />
Yep. But, again, it's been YEARS! I used to work in a dermatology office and we'd get facials for a super reduced price. Can't beat a good deal!<br />
<br />
<i><b>5. Would you, or have you ever, done Botox?</b></i><br />
Nope. Never have. Never will.<br />
<br />
<i><b>6. Beauty knows now pain. Do you believe in waxing, electrolysis, eyelash extensions, anti-aging creams, micro-dermabrasion, peels, etc?</b></i><br />
I've done it all - including being a guinea pig for laser hair removal (*ouch*). OK...maybe not *all* (I haven't done electrolysis or lash extensions) but I have had my lashes dyed and I've had more than a few micro-dermabrasions. I say, if you wanna do it, do it. Who's to tell you not to? And if it makes you feel better about yourself, why not?!Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-26069895519352357922012-02-21T08:00:00.001-08:002012-02-21T08:24:02.149-08:00Look Out (derby) World!Good morning, Kitschies!!<br />
<br />
I have some exciting news! Last night was skills test night for derby and instead of breaking my ass like I did last time...I passed!! I skated my 25 in 5 (skate 25 laps in under 5 minutes) in 4:43. I performed all the skills (stops, falls, hits, whips, etc) AND I passed the written test. Yep. There's a lot to do to become a roller girl! Funny thing is...when I started this back in August, I gave myself 6 months to pass the skills test and it's been almost exactly 6 months since my first practice!<br />
<br />
And...I have a home! I am a proud member of DIA: Derby Intelligence Agency. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5h-3ePygeQGPV5xq41adwAczqAiKscT4gWqwmDrDOL2xcGomEmNZOaKhSachu9FhPQj30Q_wcyfbzDyvg7FLkhYkqbJ2uRoFTGINKX2pFsMIl8I-6q4VI99ByEfdDUhxglFKVnA6Cvf59/s1600/2593_54531434190_54518474190_1481400_8153719_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5h-3ePygeQGPV5xq41adwAczqAiKscT4gWqwmDrDOL2xcGomEmNZOaKhSachu9FhPQj30Q_wcyfbzDyvg7FLkhYkqbJ2uRoFTGINKX2pFsMIl8I-6q4VI99ByEfdDUhxglFKVnA6Cvf59/s320/2593_54531434190_54518474190_1481400_8153719_n.jpg" width="199" /></a></div><br />
Now, that doesn't mean I'll be skating in a bout any time soon...I'm just fresh meat at this point. No. Seriously. <br />
<br />
But... if you live in, or come visit, the Albuquerque area, you should definitely come see my team's first bout on March 10th at the Albuquerque Convention Center!! *EDIT* I've been informed that I will, in fact, be skating on March 10th!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKKlowKpJxjgXSmeUsL-K7u6HSbEHaydHQMLbkBGrwfJhMVYGN4eukhfWwQJzRhGoeY3iVZWpK8buZoQ4_1_9VqVmMdlSPotVJeP7yQfDFYVtzsf8vtrSXfUQjnLu4C1Kz1GV6X9R79LBZ/s1600/430063_3141148815385_1464876596_32930652_875155607_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKKlowKpJxjgXSmeUsL-K7u6HSbEHaydHQMLbkBGrwfJhMVYGN4eukhfWwQJzRhGoeY3iVZWpK8buZoQ4_1_9VqVmMdlSPotVJeP7yQfDFYVtzsf8vtrSXfUQjnLu4C1Kz1GV6X9R79LBZ/s320/430063_3141148815385_1464876596_32930652_875155607_n.jpg" width="207" /></a></div><br />
I'll be posting here periodically about my progress with DIA and such. I can't wait to start this thing! It's been such a great outlet for me...I really needed to "find" myself. So. excited!!<br />
<br />
OH! And one more thing. My hubs brought the boys by the clinic to say hi yesterday afternoon and Nate gave me the BEST card ever!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9tIg4Xy3FtClxbE59cE9aYXry2nvwD9waUadn8Xg9C_5r5EorINumBFSVoKW545UAL3NaGX6DMZC_CI-SnW29duE-onXiGCgaLMfpWiiQofYWFrWjV5nfplr4Hf9sHelTaMxN8T3c5WwK/s1600/goodluckmom" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9tIg4Xy3FtClxbE59cE9aYXry2nvwD9waUadn8Xg9C_5r5EorINumBFSVoKW545UAL3NaGX6DMZC_CI-SnW29duE-onXiGCgaLMfpWiiQofYWFrWjV5nfplr4Hf9sHelTaMxN8T3c5WwK/s320/goodluckmom" width="240" /></a></div><br />
When he gave this to me, I almost cried! How sweet is that?! Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but I couldn't get it on the computer any other way at work.<br />
<br />
OK. I'm done. Have a great Tuesday!!Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-23573891912016809082012-02-16T09:17:00.000-08:002012-02-16T09:17:46.505-08:00Motley BlueGood morning, Kitschies! We're running in to the end of the week again. Anything exciting planned for this weekend? I get to spend the day with Nate tomorrow (school is out today and tomorrow for parent-teacher conferences) but I don't know what we're doing quite yet. We have a birthday party on Saturday, but other than that, I imagine we're looking forward to the usual 'round the house chores that we usually do. Then Monday, school is closed AGAIN for Presidents' Day, so the hubs gets to have *his* day with Nate. I know they're planning on going skating - lucky! <br />
<br />
I've been so bad about posting consistently lately and I'm sorry. Things are still in a somewhat chaotic state in my life and I have a hard time fitting everything in. However, the last few days have been a bit slower at the clinic, so I'm trying to take advantage and get a few posts in. <br />
<br />
I'm sure you've seen a lot of the Finger Paints Special Effects (flakies) around the blogs over the last couple weeks and you know I have to jump on that train. I was lucky enough to pick up these great flakies prior to their official release (because I bug my Sally's girls like that) but I haven't had a chance to wear all of them yet. I know this isn't the first mani I've used them for, but this is the first one I took pics of.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXgqh6TzLoX-143vKaQ-aB4JtaRl3-LhpltD9yEO0J8ax2N9mTnD9KSaGbkigxxqFOxE4D-RIRLILB2f5n3Z3sDE-oORd0utamL8oazjPpz07P5bgUTkWVznfuWeEwJU9IIOYfDP_nOoft/s1600/motleyblue1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXgqh6TzLoX-143vKaQ-aB4JtaRl3-LhpltD9yEO0J8ax2N9mTnD9KSaGbkigxxqFOxE4D-RIRLILB2f5n3Z3sDE-oORd0utamL8oazjPpz07P5bgUTkWVznfuWeEwJU9IIOYfDP_nOoft/s320/motleyblue1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZH2bI6MZFvvwT8mKLfaIKyCnNQdcSD68sEtpnQ7yhjYmo7b-6QrtnRiqDiGiid2k9JOKf6iNKIr5QHC1QgJEWq1W-j1Or0hL-SnpBtJddUrbbtdXKoT5jLL3FGdVoQF59m0-KQ56hZEeP/s1600/motleyblue2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZH2bI6MZFvvwT8mKLfaIKyCnNQdcSD68sEtpnQ7yhjYmo7b-6QrtnRiqDiGiid2k9JOKf6iNKIr5QHC1QgJEWq1W-j1Or0hL-SnpBtJddUrbbtdXKoT5jLL3FGdVoQF59m0-KQ56hZEeP/s320/motleyblue2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I started with a base of SH Complete Salon Manicure in Thinking of Blue, a pretty navy blue creme. Then I added two coats of FP Motley, an awesome combo of blue (or purple, depending on who you talk to) and green flakies. The blue flakies don't show up so much because of the blue base, but you could see them in certain lights. <br />
<br />
I apologize for lack of good pics of this one - we went through a cloudy stretch and this was impossible to capture with a flash. <br />
<br />
Were you lucky enough to pick up the FP Special Effects collection? Funny thing: the SA tried to sell me the black polish that was "released" with this set because "they (the flakies) won't work without it." I asked her to see the bottle, opened it and immediately handed it back to her. Sorry. I don't need yet another black creme. LOLMegan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-28915996056330694652012-02-15T09:22:00.000-08:002012-02-15T09:22:50.439-08:00WWtKW: Happy Hearts Day!Good morning, Kitschies!! It's been another busy week so far and I have barely had time to do my nails *gasp!* let alone take pictures. So...I'm joining up with <a href="http://www.ourdandelionwishes.com/">Mamarazzi</a> for We Want to Know Wednesday (I know...it's been a while...).<br />
<br />
This week's questions come from <a href="http://www.ourdandelionwishes.com/">Mamarazzi</a> herself and are all about Valentine's Day!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmBrvEyxq4GbJVl55E0kWrlrxQTe_cqNbWDD64DZKeoS70lyadGCw0ob5cjD7K7ambMT2wyXtCNq1SFKFBapCJDVOE0CWHsRlEtu-PMk5loQjzRd2saoNqXrWoNAerju5QYG4SZkOCnpyW/s1600/hearts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmBrvEyxq4GbJVl55E0kWrlrxQTe_cqNbWDD64DZKeoS70lyadGCw0ob5cjD7K7ambMT2wyXtCNq1SFKFBapCJDVOE0CWHsRlEtu-PMk5loQjzRd2saoNqXrWoNAerju5QYG4SZkOCnpyW/s200/hearts.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>1. How was your Valentine's Day?<br />
2. What is your favorite flower? Did your honey get them for you?<br />
3. Was Valentine's Day a big deal when you were a kid?<br />
4. Did you put up any Valentine's Day decorations? (bonus points for a picture)<br />
5. Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions?<br />
<br />
<div style="color: red;"><i><b>1. How was your Valentine's Day?</b></i></div>It was good!! The hubs and I got to get out for a lunch at the park where he surprised me with a new pair of yoga pants and a zip hooded sweatshirt. And having a full lunch for me is kinda a big deal - it's been busy at the clinic and those have been much less frequent than I'd like. Then in the evening, we surprised the boys with breakfast for dinner - they loved it!<br />
<br />
<div style="color: red;"><i><b>2. What is your favorite flower? Did your honey get them for you?</b></i></div>It's a toss-up between hydrangeas and giant bearded iris. And since you can't really get iris like that in the stores, I'll go with hydrangeas. I didn't get either. LOL<br />

Another week is flying by and it's been just as busy as the one before it. Derby practice Monday (workin' my skillz), sick kiddo (Mason - again - this time with an ear infection), misbehaving kiddo (Nate - again), intense workouts, lather, rinse, repeat. <br />
<br />
After seeing quite a few girls with their new NerdLacquer hauls, I decided I couldn't wait any longer and I <u>purchased</u> a trio. Oh, how I love Amanda's creations. They're pretty *and* they're geek-centric. Nail polish doesn't get much better than that!<br />
<br />
Here's what I got...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgWLkgWzhbJU859KYnx7sLhTzs66BL9xEQ3wTUVSTQ_5aRG7tvlFcX6-7x7nbs1AX0U-J60E1iR0RUCX1Te4xAgf94UOxAZyYKywoZKsIL6C7unPS6b17n9513uY6wScxyA-32wQsg5VSj/s1600/nerdlacq" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgWLkgWzhbJU859KYnx7sLhTzs66BL9xEQ3wTUVSTQ_5aRG7tvlFcX6-7x7nbs1AX0U-J60E1iR0RUCX1Te4xAgf94UOxAZyYKywoZKsIL6C7unPS6b17n9513uY6wScxyA-32wQsg5VSj/s320/nerdlacq" width="320" /></a></div>LtoR: Webinarmy, ≠C, Event Horizon and I Think You Call Me...Sexy<br />
<br />
How do you pick which one to try first? Really! So. I don't know how I decided, but I went with Webinarmy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQkF0fCnI8OG7dPGbf7nJLwAp_poyqnfBKbayXXyMELMWniOSl9x294795-szmgpxfwMVzI07jWIJZxXQDQeRhKEb0xizuWe8fwrQ7LMrzsD4w7YwOm0vcaZFNFaFUO5U8ptiCmiZLGmN_/s1600/webinarmy1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQkF0fCnI8OG7dPGbf7nJLwAp_poyqnfBKbayXXyMELMWniOSl9x294795-szmgpxfwMVzI07jWIJZxXQDQeRhKEb0xizuWe8fwrQ7LMrzsD4w7YwOm0vcaZFNFaFUO5U8ptiCmiZLGmN_/s320/webinarmy1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Webinarmy is a pretty green - not quite Army green, not quite Kelly green. The best I can describe it is a dusty green with a hint of blue. ANYway...this is an almost jelly base with a bit of silver shimmer thrown in there for fun. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t9r3Afpy4SQ/TyDV-fGkePI/AAAAAAAADRk/3eZlFj2PKVg/s1600/webinarmy3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t9r3Afpy4SQ/TyDV-fGkePI/AAAAAAAADRk/3eZlFj2PKVg/s320/webinarmy3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>And then the glitter...oh, the glitter! Small green and blue hex glitter with little tiny bits of round blue and green round glitter. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFs_uaEhUhz9IpBXq777EN2bT_PnH5UtNcHV2BSS2seQN_vwmuliAJ_HmJ7bx77VLRCTEWi4uJY50ENxzQ7vjFHocKFlpb3gCDQ7OuJohKvbPmXp5gkL2pT_SfOXTv1TWtuherU5SbVgUA/s1600/webinarmy4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="289" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFs_uaEhUhz9IpBXq777EN2bT_PnH5UtNcHV2BSS2seQN_vwmuliAJ_HmJ7bx77VLRCTEWi4uJY50ENxzQ7vjFHocKFlpb3gCDQ7OuJohKvbPmXp5gkL2pT_SfOXTv1TWtuherU5SbVgUA/s320/webinarmy4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I had a couple pieces of the larger hex glitters that didn't lay quite flat, but it wasn't enough to snag on anything. The wear was good (at least 3 days) and the removal was the typical pain in the butt glitter removal. My *only* complaint (and it's not even really a complaint, but an observation) about this polish is the smell. It's not *horrible* but it's noticeably different than your mass-market polishes.<br />
<br />
As always, these and other wonderfully gorgeous NerdLacquers are available from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/NerdLacquer">Amanda's Etsy page</a>, however, she's on a short vacation and her shop is closed. But this is only temporary!! Be sure to check back there often so you can grab one when she comes back online. :) <br />
<br />
So...now here's the question of the day: Which NerdLacquer should I try next? Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-88866135503426767462012-02-07T09:49:00.000-08:002012-02-07T09:49:07.291-08:00Disco SmurfGood morning, Kitschies! I apologize for the decreased postings as of late. Things at the clinic have been a little more hectic and I haven't had as much down time as I usually do. But, know that I'm still here and I love you all and I think about blogging often. <br />
<br />
And since I have a quick couple of minutes, I thought I'd share a recent mani with you.<br />
<br />
In December, I got an awesome ROAK package from one of my favorite nail bloggers: <a href="http://nailstah.com/">Nailstah</a>. I was itching to try one of the beauties she gifted me and this was the first one I tried.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZkEr1KlRwWF68Z9iffqv1zuUyvt5-r6J5eOWDC2Uhdju0YTQsS4qit3ia_VgwLnRLh8Qn8KFPPARnUVCJbZK_d7nKugqNybGbxlHelLAiFfqvk1136NFTubj3POx7uNOufXguHVJji6mA/s1600/blueholo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZkEr1KlRwWF68Z9iffqv1zuUyvt5-r6J5eOWDC2Uhdju0YTQsS4qit3ia_VgwLnRLh8Qn8KFPPARnUVCJbZK_d7nKugqNybGbxlHelLAiFfqvk1136NFTubj3POx7uNOufXguHVJji6mA/s320/blueholo1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>This is SH Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away and Kleancolor Blue Holo. Blue Holo looks *so* pretty in the bottle but it's super, super sheer. I matched the blue base as close as I could and I think the match with Blue Me Away was pretty spot on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEJoGB6sDDAK-RqEmLgQDuRh3KBOZCUjWRdXlRKn7IS4MG94QoJpYAOliIVssSXHTr3GtZM3AkFVk5DglVl2czf4x-uAP_fLa9drTF4FgxSLPo1U-7DT0SX0Hq0mGn2Rh7L0ThCVY4yjhf/s1600/blueholo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEJoGB6sDDAK-RqEmLgQDuRh3KBOZCUjWRdXlRKn7IS4MG94QoJpYAOliIVssSXHTr3GtZM3AkFVk5DglVl2czf4x-uAP_fLa9drTF4FgxSLPo1U-7DT0SX0Hq0mGn2Rh7L0ThCVY4yjhf/s320/blueholo2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Serious bling, ladies! I wore this back in early January and it took me a few days before I could get some decent sun shots, hence the tip wear visible on the first pic. I loved this mani - it reminded me of a disco Smurf. LOL<br />

It's been another busy week over here in Suburbia. Work "restructuring", sick kiddo, derby, new part time job for the hubs. My head is spinning!! The bestie and I managed to make an brief escape on Saturday for lunch and some retail therapy - it was soooo good to get out of the house for some girl time (when are we going again, Ms Zombie?).<br />
<br />
I have a gorgeous polish to show you today. I do NOT know why I waited so long to get this one. Seriously. One of, if not THE most, awesome polishes I own.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-16iZov2tfmM/TyDV81vizSI/AAAAAAAADRA/DD-e28qRv-M/s1600/nfuoh612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-16iZov2tfmM/TyDV81vizSI/AAAAAAAADRA/DD-e28qRv-M/s320/nfuoh612.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>In the shade, this looks like your typical silver foil polish. But don't let that fool you because...<br />
<br />

Silver holo awesomeness! I know all you lacquerheads out there know already, but this is Nfu Oh 61. Or, as I like to call it, the Queen of Holos. I used 2-3 coats (depending on streaks) over 2 coats of Nfu Oh Aqua Base.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0JuSrof_iIQ/TyDV9dC12NI/AAAAAAAADRE/loNe5oavBds/s1600/nfuoh614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0JuSrof_iIQ/TyDV9dC12NI/AAAAAAAADRE/loNe5oavBds/s320/nfuoh614.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Nfu Oh has the best holos, IMO. Strong linear rainbow-y goodness!<br />

It's shaping up to be another busy day, so I'm going to put together this post while I can.<br />
<br />
WAAAAAYYYY back in October, Mason and I took a road trip to Cali to visit my family. It was time for the annual Walk to Defeat ALS (I walked, well, skated) in support of my Mom who was diagnosed with ALS over 10 years ago. While I was visiting, I had to make a trip to their brand new Ulta to see what was up for grabs. I was happy to find two great polishes. But first, let's look at what I wore *out* there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgksrVOpvruHJ_2wJCHgX7LmzqVgBBNNEw4Ljz5GU-q-l2NOa31Ws_eLeQudb_4k_dgSYM7-wUs1VSDTDUsAWDmIyliGONO2z32hAGnqQ43SsRdVbif0c2XXZJ4KDX61HOmToZ34q_IB7/s1600/3dfantasy1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgksrVOpvruHJ_2wJCHgX7LmzqVgBBNNEw4Ljz5GU-q-l2NOa31Ws_eLeQudb_4k_dgSYM7-wUs1VSDTDUsAWDmIyliGONO2z32hAGnqQ43SsRdVbif0c2XXZJ4KDX61HOmToZ34q_IB7/s320/3dfantasy1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AHvxyZr2L-U/TjDL8m2Iw5I/AAAAAAAACfo/ychJGKKE1bk/s1600/3dfantasy3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AHvxyZr2L-U/TjDL8m2Iw5I/AAAAAAAACfo/ychJGKKE1bk/s320/3dfantasy3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I started my trip to Cali with a holo, albeit not a strong holo, but a holo nonetheless. I mean, how can you visit the Sunshine State without sporting a holo on your tips?! This is 3D Fantasy from the ChG Tronica collection. It's a really pretty coral-y pink with a quiet linear holo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhriKQfLNL51fVNHvFmEdLlCUvqxqwRajssYfvVbH_cHi18JQWfMP7lbKTYGzE7dcawWdwU3VBGvnSkD7PloYtnmk3EtGOyERbKjSRopY1dnqotREiEAAskqQ1qk8iBR5y3Naf6T-I_8yiY/s1600/vacaymani1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhriKQfLNL51fVNHvFmEdLlCUvqxqwRajssYfvVbH_cHi18JQWfMP7lbKTYGzE7dcawWdwU3VBGvnSkD7PloYtnmk3EtGOyERbKjSRopY1dnqotREiEAAskqQ1qk8iBR5y3Naf6T-I_8yiY/s320/vacaymani1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>On our Ulta excursion, I lucked out and found L'Oreal Owl's Night from the Project Runway collaboration. I loved this polish. Super dark but it has a warm copper glow to it. So, so pretty! I haven't worn this since but you can bet it'll see good rotation through my collection.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVOt6z37K-RC4H482uNK2zO1lwekFPgrZ7H4lm1_Hu5qy7W3GmMiihAgYOddNraky1UBcvaE7_Dox_NKhmME8vi-oueOz_6_1C4zkg7PvTsqrOjS0oIG-gSWQ92-cbYwy-GEatC86cm2RK/s1600/vacaymani2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVOt6z37K-RC4H482uNK2zO1lwekFPgrZ7H4lm1_Hu5qy7W3GmMiihAgYOddNraky1UBcvaE7_Dox_NKhmME8vi-oueOz_6_1C4zkg7PvTsqrOjS0oIG-gSWQ92-cbYwy-GEatC86cm2RK/s320/vacaymani2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipNJtiGY2mEYw5wG9AEvGhZ4ZfScOSDMTr1YfygtL-a-Vp09hD_DoMG36E0XQ4Mc6YB1mbo5U0-9K-9E5pDcrcilb-dtrnYaR_RxhbUzx7GgCfZl-XuMQP0BD7jNM9Vf8_vD7ooIInBDI6/s1600/vacaymani3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="206" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipNJtiGY2mEYw5wG9AEvGhZ4ZfScOSDMTr1YfygtL-a-Vp09hD_DoMG36E0XQ4Mc6YB1mbo5U0-9K-9E5pDcrcilb-dtrnYaR_RxhbUzx7GgCfZl-XuMQP0BD7jNM9Vf8_vD7ooIInBDI6/s320/vacaymani3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I also found Skyscraper from ChG Metro collection. It was the first time I had seen this collection and this was the only one that really jumped at me. I did two coats of this pretty navy blue jelly with silver glitter (except for the middle finger where I obviously did 3). This one didn't wear so great on me - I had some big chips within two days. <br />
<br />
Seeing these pics makes me really miss my *long* nails. While the nubbins are more manageable, I like the way the long ones look.<br />
<br />
OK...time to put my skates on...things are ramping up here. Have a great Thursday and don't forget to <a href="http://kitschysuburbia.blogspot.com/2012/01/its-giveaway-time.html">enter my giveaway</a> (you only have a few days left).Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-32488224744623678032012-01-25T11:24:00.000-08:002012-01-25T11:24:56.894-08:00A Nom for WednesdayHappy Hump Day, Kitschies!! It's been a bit chaotic here at the clinic the last few days and I haven't been at my work station much. It's lunch time now and I'm squeezing in a post because...how can I ignore you?<br />
<br />
This is one of my favorite go-to recipes; I fix it at least every few weeks. Chances are you have the ingredients on hand! I originally found this in a Kraft recipe magazine but thanks to the wonders of the internets, you can now find it online.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/smothered-chicken-green-bean-111667.aspx">Smothered Chicken & Green Bean Skillet</a></b><br />
4 small boneless, skinless chicken breast halves<br />
2 cups frozen green beans<br />
1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup<br />
1/2 cup water<br />
1/4 tsp dried thyme leaves<br />
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese<span><strong> </strong></span><br />
<br />
<span><strong>HEAT </strong>large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cover. Cook 5 to 7 min. on each side or until done (165ºF). Remove chicken from skillet. </span> <br />
<span><span rel="v:instructions"><span> </span></span></span><br />
<span> <strong>ADD </strong>beans, soup, water and thyme to skillet; cover. Cook 6 min., stirring frequently. </span> <br />
<span> <strong>RETURN </strong>chicken to skillet. Cook 1 min. or until hot. Top with cheese. </span><br />
<br />
<span>NOTES: I go between using cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and cream of chicken and mushroom soup - it's whatever I have on hand and really, I can't tell the difference. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjME5rThD1qahwmE2gTOPLxhaDOnXiESHSxCLPqAlDtBJq4OUalhwPtnl3hy2nVxYavN58Q39zler7ZTahB8xHaVbRO8VAA2ru0CZWES1T2zawO-a_CAfLI_JTfCmvYsxQHARC_HzfjxA8L/s1600/greenbeanskillet1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjME5rThD1qahwmE2gTOPLxhaDOnXiESHSxCLPqAlDtBJq4OUalhwPtnl3hy2nVxYavN58Q39zler7ZTahB8xHaVbRO8VAA2ru0CZWES1T2zawO-a_CAfLI_JTfCmvYsxQHARC_HzfjxA8L/s320/greenbeanskillet1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span>See? You have all that stuff sitting in your cabinets and in your fridge right now, don't you?</span><br />
<span> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-POcZ9QDGaUE/Twocit4TmjI/AAAAAAAADKA/YpFTgz1-mYM/s1600/greenbeanskillet2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-POcZ9QDGaUE/Twocit4TmjI/AAAAAAAADKA/YpFTgz1-mYM/s320/greenbeanskillet2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span> Soooo good! And the boys eat it without complaint (which is a miracle in my house).</span><br />
<span><br />
</span><br />
<span>Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday! I'm off to eat some food so I can get back to the grind.</span><br />
<br />

We tried to take the boys to the snow play area on Sunday but that was a big fail. The snow area was closed for "unsafe conditions" - I don't exactly know what that means but I'm assuming that meant don't go sledding unless you want to run in to big, hard rocks. And seeing as I've sledded in to my share of hard, inanimate objects, we chose to sled at another place. It was cold and windy and we didn't have much fun, but Nate *did* enjoy himself for the little time we were out.<br />
<br />
Every week, Polish-aholics Annonymous on FB runs a challenge. I've been participating in the challenges, but I haven't done a corresponding blog post about any of them...until now. Today's challenge was ombre/gradient nails. In case you don't know, ombre means <span class="ssens">having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark. Don't worry...I didn't know the exact meaning, either. Yay! We learned something today. You can go back to bed now. :) </span><br />
<br />
<span class="ssens">On to the pics, shall we?</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2x2Enyncyj8/TxtaFnI1V9I/AAAAAAAADOg/AVfJHc37t8s/s1600/purpombre2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2x2Enyncyj8/TxtaFnI1V9I/AAAAAAAADOg/AVfJHc37t8s/s320/purpombre2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span class="ssens"> </span><br />
I initially tried a white to black gradient, but it didn't turn out so well. I had to hand mix two shades and it just didn't work. So, I went back to my Helmer and dug around a bit - and viola! Here's my purple gradient nails!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLqH0fPOenkk1KS4SpPmmNh5fZmZNNOKMLtqS8I9C3B-df1Edidz2RAD5z3Pp05FBi8bB7-8LmgJGf0dlLzDxkY_vhV4f49BbnSM_hltnGm_F24nMcxy1hKxih_GGR9S7bzxhbzKOw4IzB/s1600/purpombre3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLqH0fPOenkk1KS4SpPmmNh5fZmZNNOKMLtqS8I9C3B-df1Edidz2RAD5z3Pp05FBi8bB7-8LmgJGf0dlLzDxkY_vhV4f49BbnSM_hltnGm_F24nMcxy1hKxih_GGR9S7bzxhbzKOw4IzB/s320/purpombre3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>In the previous picture, the index and middle fingers look pretty similar, but IRL and in more natural light, they're not quite as close in color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrRAR6Eq9JHgc2GcgfRTGN1CkisOgKMZijOcSt2CeM5OBD7OHQHiBb3m_LF7frnEDt61gBOHZjktwqHb_ainASm437448Ktt5jGrmN9Mpy4GvtRdI7Erx2KHc4Re2tierDGxA65BfhfSVr/s1600/purpombre4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrRAR6Eq9JHgc2GcgfRTGN1CkisOgKMZijOcSt2CeM5OBD7OHQHiBb3m_LF7frnEDt61gBOHZjktwqHb_ainASm437448Ktt5jGrmN9Mpy4GvtRdI7Erx2KHc4Re2tierDGxA65BfhfSVr/s320/purpombre4.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>You can see here that while they're similar, they are not the same. IRL, Mira looks to dry a bit darker than what you can see in the bottle. But in all the pics I took to compare the nail to the bottle, they look identical. Strange.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RHAHu-HopsE/TxtaGMDe6HI/AAAAAAAADO0/bS4vqubyxzk/s1600/purpombre5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RHAHu-HopsE/TxtaGMDe6HI/AAAAAAAADO0/bS4vqubyxzk/s320/purpombre5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>This is the first ombre mani I've done and I like it enough. I just don't care to wear a different color on each nail. It kinda drives me crazy even though I like the effect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJNRQi34St9LhlipH2M-EoPq1eBM81NJx8xX8Y4_VeyGGMxh-h_8XIym68VZomNxoXH8zh8WEf5Xg70zvtbL1-2xaETw8qgT1pCVTbOHLOFYuKpOI56nOLc-Q6aTXBYi8cKUZtFzn8LkO_/s1600/purpombre1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJNRQi34St9LhlipH2M-EoPq1eBM81NJx8xX8Y4_VeyGGMxh-h_8XIym68VZomNxoXH8zh8WEf5Xg70zvtbL1-2xaETw8qgT1pCVTbOHLOFYuKpOI56nOLc-Q6aTXBYi8cKUZtFzn8LkO_/s320/purpombre1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Here's what I used. What color(s) would you have used if you had done an ombre mani?</div>Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4698997707147549563.post-10561325201050722732012-01-20T11:03:00.000-08:002012-01-20T11:03:32.283-08:00Why You No Green!?!Good day, Kitschies!! It's FRIDAY!!! It's supposed to beautiful weather this weekend, so we're planning on taking the boys sledding on Sunday. I can't wait! I think it'll be more for me than the boys, but it'll be fun either way. Saturday will be spent getting things done around the house so we can play on Sunday. What do YOU have planned for the weekend?<br />
<br />
I have a fun mani to share with you today. I've done a few like this before, but of the 3 I've done so far, this is, by far, my favorite.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8CYeNHPrOAY/Two3LCfkw2I/AAAAAAAADNQ/JzMySPw2VG8/s1600/pastelsplatter1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8CYeNHPrOAY/Two3LCfkw2I/AAAAAAAADNQ/JzMySPw2VG8/s320/pastelsplatter1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I started with a base of a pale, pale pink Color Club (I cannot remember the name of it right now). I wanted something light but not as stark as a plain white. This super pale pink worked perfect!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZmlD5Be2n2yONE4oz2xpJ7ecctLYl_uKmDN6xdULzpCLZkmlZ5b1stJvCqVePTjLsJZv_m2NGz9lzEmTy4ZDbZXpZg6pNU1t5Wqu8G2OTksNLzknoFuxbdM1i8HaYTewd1hxKjLtyfsSs/s1600/pastelsplatter2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZmlD5Be2n2yONE4oz2xpJ7ecctLYl_uKmDN6xdULzpCLZkmlZ5b1stJvCqVePTjLsJZv_m2NGz9lzEmTy4ZDbZXpZg6pNU1t5Wqu8G2OTksNLzknoFuxbdM1i8HaYTewd1hxKjLtyfsSs/s320/pastelsplatter2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Then I splattered ChG Four Leaf Clover (yes, that really *is* green, almost a neon green, but it would NOT capture correctly at. all.) and Orly Charged Up (purple) alternately on each nail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4MXZntAmiXxfMyVyWYlEAbOXlZ1tGrOKo58_X7iaF843kjZr43UQUGywdmfgKctGNPtS_JTkvED4Cvijf7JY6rcOagUvqGGcPymy894XsxbMGnK1rjlmDPDXfCgUVp-m84diBiUivcZjG/s1600/pastelmarble3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4MXZntAmiXxfMyVyWYlEAbOXlZ1tGrOKo58_X7iaF843kjZr43UQUGywdmfgKctGNPtS_JTkvED4Cvijf7JY6rcOagUvqGGcPymy894XsxbMGnK1rjlmDPDXfCgUVp-m84diBiUivcZjG/s320/pastelmarble3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>For a more color-accurate pic, check out <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?q=china+glaze+four+leaf+clover&hl=en&biw=1285&bih=760&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=4nS9tzXqznmlUM:&imgrefurl=http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2009/12/china-glaze-swatches-review-comparisons-part-2.html&docid=QEMtRhmWSO89fM&imgurl=http://www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/china-glaze-four-leaf-clover-up-away.jpg&w=408&h=450&ei=4LcZT9i7JcffsQKx6vShCw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=530&sig=113899448015792177797&page=1&tbnh=173&tbnw=166&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=41&ty=47">this swatch</a> by ALU. No matter how I tweaked the settings on my camera and no matter what I did in Photoshop, I could NOT get that green to look green. Strange. Usually I have trouble with purple.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjESA1mB7bu4kwkTrnL42G6BILglkAvbS0toLGWGlD-wmKMt-vWhyphenhyphenTtC7zpJfl4XCF3LHIhjcwNRIFuuqk3DAmi12FYFM0roNB6BdOU4xyFZNGy9Xs58wTKR0r2bezQ7M2i0HUbfb4nh8lx/s1600/pastelsplatter3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjESA1mB7bu4kwkTrnL42G6BILglkAvbS0toLGWGlD-wmKMt-vWhyphenhyphenTtC7zpJfl4XCF3LHIhjcwNRIFuuqk3DAmi12FYFM0roNB6BdOU4xyFZNGy9Xs58wTKR0r2bezQ7M2i0HUbfb4nh8lx/s1600/pastelsplatter3.jpg" /></a></div>I loved this mani! Some of the polish dragged when I put on top coat and usually that would bug me but this time it gave it an almost watercolor effect, <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&biw=1285&bih=760&tbm=isch&tbnid=HlxIjnSUpRKGVM:&imgrefurl=http://taschkaturnquist.wordpress.com/tag/illustrator/&docid=t0MHXit6uTUjUM&imgurl=http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l172/taschka/DM_1.jpg&w=303&h=469&ei=e7kZT5GONerCsQLPpvnNCw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=991&vpy=277&dur=3814&hovh=279&hovw=180&tx=80&ty=110&sig=113899448015792177797&page=2&tbnh=134&tbnw=95&start=33&ndsp=40&ved=1t:429,r:21,s:33">a la David Mack</a>.<br />
<br />
And just as a little side note, I've noticed I've picked up a few new followers here and there and I want to say WELCOME and thank you! It's amazing to me that people are interested enough in what I do on my blog to follow me. Keep an eye open for a giveaway to be happening very soon! Happy weekend!Megan Harmeyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16280536206959904670noreply@blogger.com6
