Misc Nails 2012 - Part 1
Hello, again! I went through some of my manis from 2012 and I thought I'd share some of them with you now.
Ready for lots of pictures? I'm splitting this up in to two parts because there were quite a few pictures and I didn't want to overload you all in one sitting.
Part 1
Orly Snowcone with KleanColor Blue Holo as an accent. I waited a long time to get Snowcone and I have no idea why. It's super pigmented and *bonus*, it doesn't stain! A big thank you to Nailstah for the KleanColor way back in 2011.
Zoya Evvy (dark green-grey creme) and Zoya Quinn (deep berry). The contrast of these colors was really great IRL...couldn't exactly capture it in pictures.
Zoya Bevin (mint) and Zoya Kristen (blue-based grey) with a little NYC Love Letters for some sparkle.
Color Club Revvvolution (black holo), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Orange Crush, black striping polish and a bit of silver holo glitter to give it some pow. Obviously, this was a Halloween mani. I was feeling kind of uninspired for Halloween this year.
Milani Violet Dash (purple creme) and Milani Jewel FX Lavender as a glitter gradient. I wore this for the first annual Southwest SparkleCon 2012 as organized by Makeup Zombie. SO much fun meeting some new sparkle friends!!
A plastic wrap mani using a pale pink (I haven't a clue what it was) and China Glaze Designer Satin. Super easy mani with maximum bang for your buck. I loved this one!
And last, but definitely not least, a really pretty water marble using Zoya Anja (purple) and Zoya Midori (green). This is the first marble I'd done in a while and I was happy how it turned out. I really like how some of the green faded in to the purple.
I don't usually post makeup pictures but I wanted to share this one. I did this as my look for a derby bout in October. This is Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire (red) and Raven's Prophecy (black). This look took me FOREVER but it turned out just like I wanted it and it was so pretty with gorgeous sparkle (that I couldn't capture).
Stay tuned for Part 2 - coming soon!

Green Things
**Notice anything different? Yep. I changed things around a little. New background = new blog button! Check it out and grab one!**
Good morning, Kitschies! I hope all of you in the Land of the Internets are doing well. Can you believe it's almost August?! Where has the Summer gone? I remember taking Nate to his first day of Kindergarten and now it's almost time for him to start first grade. *sigh*
I've been seriously horrible about blogging lately and I'm not gonna apologize! LOL I've been skating, reading (a lot!!), visiting with family, eating (probably more than I should), and watching TV (not a lot). I'm home with Nate today and I thought I'd take advantage of the quiet (it's 7:30 and he's still in bed - that's how you know he's sick) and do some picture prep and maybe get a post (or a few, hopefully) knocked out. I was reviewing the backlog of pictures and I came across this one that I'd forgotten about.
This is the gorgeous Zoya Midori. It's a beautiful lime green with a golden flash. It's bright but not overly obnoxious (say, like CC What A Shock!).
I love how the gold flash makes this green glow. I'm not usually too partial to green polish, but this one is so pretty - it's a Zoya must have. I had a bit of a thin spot near the cuticle on a few fingers but I don't think it's the polish's fault - probably more of a rush fault on my part.
I don't usually post makeup looks but keeping in the swing of green things, I thought I'd share a look I did for the Albuquerque Comic Expo in early June.
I said I'm not too partial to green nail polish...but I loves me some green eyeshadow! The gold is Fyrinnae Rapunzel Had Hair Extensions, lime green is from the Maybelline Forrest Fury palette and the dark green is a base of the darker green in Forrest Fury with Fyrinnae Dark Fantasy over top.
I'm off to snuggle with Mr Nate. Fevers are the worst! Enjoy your day and come back soon - there will be more things shared on Kitschy Suburbia soon.

Persistence is Key
It's Monday - again. I had a good weekend, though it was pretty busy. Saturday the hubs went to his monthly "power summit" and was gone from about 1:30 in the afternoon til about 1:30 at night. I spent most of that afternoon in the kitchen making cucumber salad, cookies and dinner. Sunday was a little more laid back, but we still had grocery shopping and laundry to do. Last night was really nice - the hubs offered to watch the Emmys (he never offers) and I got to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the show and doing the ironing. LOL
So. Ever since I started this whole addicted-to-polish-thing, I've wanted to do water marbling. I think it looks so cool. I don't know how many times I tried and totally failed. I don't know how many youtube tutorials I tried. I don't know how many people-in-the-know I asked to get hints and tips from. No matter what I tried, it didn't work. Then I got a "craving" to try again this last week. Let's see how it worked (or didn't).
IT WORKED!!! I was so excited! Though it was rather labor intensive and time consuming, the end results were totally worth it. The ring finger on this hand reminds me of the balloons we used to get at the fair growing up.
The things that I think made the biggest difference this time were I used warmer water than just "room temperature" and I used a base color. I used Color Club She's So Glam as a base color, ChG Designer Satin and Orly Blue Collar for the swirls.
This is my right hand. Why is it, that no matter what I do to my nails, the right hand never looks as good? Even something as non-dominate hand as water marbling? Especially the pinkie nail. Seriously? LOL That aside, I got tons of compliments on this mani. I loved it (the mani and the compliments)! I didn't want to take it off, but with all the work I did in the kitchen on Saturday, I had a lot of flaking and didn't have a choice.
I must've been feeling super creative in the middle of last week. I did the marbling on Wednesday night and then I got a wild hair and did my eye makeup different than I usually do on Thursday morning.
I am usually a neutrals kinda gal, but this was DARK for me! Pardon the picture - I am not good at taking eye pics. Let me see if I can tell you all that I used. UD Primer Potion as base. Hi Fi Shadow Fix as primer. Fyrinnae Warrior Mage on lid, Hi-Fi Emptiness and Lies on the outer corner and in crease and Darling Girl Cosmetics Miss Me on the upper lid. Oh, and UD liner in Zero on waterline and upper lash line.
I'm linking up to From the Kitchen of: Mrs Bettie Rocker today for a link party. Her blog is one of my top faves and she has a lot of different kind of people who visit her blog frequently. Please hop on over there and check it out (and add YOUR blog to the list)!
Hope you all have a great day! Even though it's Monday, it seems like it's going pretty smoothly. I'm sitting here, at my work station, listening to one of our patients tell my coworker a story. This woman - she has a different, wild story every single time she comes in!
