Lady in Red

Good evening, Kitschies.  It was a stoopid busy day at the office today.  I barely sat down all day and didn't have time for my usual blog browsing and Facebook updating.  And because of that, I didn't get to do my post at the usual time.  So, as I prop my eyelids up with toothpicks, I'm writing out today's post - gotta hurry before the toothpicks break!!

Back in July, I participated in a red, white and blue swap hosted by Dandelion Wishes.  It was my first online swap and it was a lot of fun.  I got a lot of red, white and blue goodies.  One of those goodies was Arissa My Favorite Red.
My Favorite Red is a medium red with a slight blue shimmer.  In certain light, it almost looks pink.  I had never used or even heard of Arissa before - it's not sold anywhere in Albuquerque that I've seen.  It applied easily in 2 coats.  My Favorite Red had sat in my "untried" container since July, but I "discovered" it while separating colors and swatching for my new storage drawer.  This picture was taken inside with flash.
This was taken outside in direct sun.  My Favorite Red really is a pretty red.  Red is my favorite color, but I don't really have that many red polishes in my collection.  For some reason, I have the most purple out of any color.  Anyway, I couldn't just leave it at pretty red.  My mom gave me a wheel of 2 mm rhinestones for my birthday and I hadn't used them yet - it was time.
With my liner brush, I dragged white and black acrylic craft paint from the top corner of my nail to create a feather-type effect.  But I had those rhinestones - I wasn't finished yet.  I brushed on a thin layer of top coat and applied two clear/white rhinestones on the side toward the top.  To seal the rhinestones in, I applied a thicker layer of top coat.  I wore this mani for about 3 days without any real tip wear, but I did have a couple small chips where my nails bent slightly.  This was a pretty simple nail art, but it was perfect for my first try at using the rhinestones.

Before I ramble on and lose you, I'm going to wrap this up.  It's so hectic at work because we are short not one, but two medical assistants.  We knew about the one, but the second "loss" was rather sudden.  Luckily, my co-worker and I are there to pick up the slack (we're the longest running employees at 7+ and 8+ years).  However, that leaves me with two doctors and the work load of two medical assistants.  I can do it (I've done it before), but it really makes me appreciate my co-worker.  On an up note...the highlight of my day was a visit to Sally Beauty.  I picked up Galaxy Girl and Space Cadet from the Orly Cosmic FX collection for me and Galaxy Girl and Lunar Eclipse for the bestie.  She offered a kiss on the mouth for the favor, but I took a rain check.  OK...I'm going to bed.  I'll be back tomorrow with a recipe of some sort.  LOL  Good night!

That's a gorgeous red! I love reds. I think it's a very underrated nail polish color family. That art is lovely too!
