Tag: What Would You Rather...?

Happy weekend, Kitschies!  I hope you're enjoying some down time this weekend.  It's been kinda busy here at our house.  We have our bestie's oldest son over for a sleep over.  He and Nate are arguing over how to play Lego Batman - you should hear them!!  Earlier, they had fun out in the pool in the backyard.  Even Mason got in on the action for a little while.  After a dinner of homemade pizza (thanks, hubs) and more S'mores than an adult should be allowed to eat, I'm about done.

I saw this little meme over at Libby's Pink Vanity a couple days ago and Kimberly mentioned that she thought I should play along...so I am!

1) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip-glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?
Oooh...that's a hard one!  I think I'd rather lose my shadows because you can make yourself look made up with everything else.  You don't *have* to have shadow.

2) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I'd rather chop it all off.  My hair is already pretty short, so what's a little less?

3) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Pink.  Coral doesn't really work well with my skin tone - too much yellow already.

4) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
You're seriously going to make me choose?!  I guess I would have to say clothes because I already have quite a bit of makeup (I'm including nail polish in that).  But...I would love it to be a 70/30 split (the larger being for clothes).

5) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?
I think I'd rather do lipstick as eyeliner because eyeliner as lipstick would be too thick.  Though lipstick as liner would probably smear/crease pretty easily.  Either way, not a good choice.

6) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
Sephora!  MAC is too expensive and Sephora has a much larger selection.

7) Would you rather only use one eye shadow color or one lip color the rest of your life?
One lip color.  Why?  Because I really only have one lip color (just ask the bestie).

8) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I'd rather do summer clothes in winter because you can pile lots of layers to make you warm enough.  You can only get so naked.

9) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
Either?  But, if I had to chose, I guess I would go with bright nails because you can do more stamping and art on top of the brights than the darks.  Though holos *are* pretty damned awesome.  But...I think I like darker vampy colors more.  Confusing much?

10) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
Favorite lip product.  I don't use lip stuff all that much anyway.

11) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
Messy bun...it looks better for a wider range of circumstances.

There are no set rules for tagging people, so I tag whoever wants to play along!

Is Change in the Air?

Good morning, Kitschies!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  We didn't do anything too exciting or out of the ordinary...just the usual chores and a trip to the park for the boys.  I did make 3 new recipes between Friday and Sunday night and they were all good, so it was a pretty productive weekend for me.

I'm considering changing things up a big on my blog.  No, I'm not going away.  I'm not planning on posting any less.  It's just more of a structural change and I'd like your input.  Instead of haphazardly posting manis and recipes and an occasional family update, I think I'm going to theme each day.  Here's what I have in mind:

Mani Monday: It's pretty much self-explanatory.  Manis, nail art, etc.

Tasty Tuesday: New recipe(s).

Workout Wednesday: I've done this before but it didn't last very long.  I was talking to my hubs about sectioning off my blog and I brought this up for Wednesday.  His response?  "I dare you."   Is that supposed to be supportive?  LOL  Either way, I'm going to slowly start an exercise program and post my trial and error as far as that goes.  I'll also post healthy recipes and tips to help lose weight (specifically: fat) and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Thursday Spotlight: It took me a while to come up with something for Thursday.  My hubs suggested "new media", but we don't get enough new media (unless you count comic books) to warrant a post a week, so I thought about spotlighting things like websites I like to visit, or a product that I love or a book I've read and really liked.

Flashback/Family Friday: I really enjoy linking up with Christopher & Tia: Flashback Friday, so why not make it a point to do it?  And if I don't have anything fun to share there, I'll use the post as a chance to update on my family (I started this blog as a way to chronicle my boys' growing up and it deviated from that pretty fast).

So...what do YOU think?  Do you think this will make the blog more user-friendly or might it make it too chopped up?  I love doing my blog, but sometimes it gets a little tedious to come up with something randomly new every day.  This way I have a week to work on each specific "theme".  I read (and respond when possible) to all my comments, so please let me know what you think!

Tag! I'm It!

The awesome Liz from Icomatic's Nails tagged for this fun survey. Liz does the most AWESOME nail art - go check out her blog and drool over her skillz.  This is my second post for the day, so consider this a two-fer Tuesday.

1. Have you ever felt so disappointed in a nail polish you wanted to throw it out the window? And why?
Unfortunately, yes.  :(  It's China Glaze Blue Sparrow.  I had seen a picture of it by Lextard on Flickr and it just glowed!  When I saw it at Sally's, I had to have it.  I used it and I was not impressed.  Not even a little.  This was before I knew about the infamous neon finish.  If it was just that, I could've lived with it.  But...the formula was super watery and it took about a million layers to make it completely opaque.  OK.  Maybe not a million, but definitely more than my usual 3.  I didn't take it back, but it sits at the very bottom of my "trieds" bucket.

2. What are your top three favorite nail polishes?
That's a hard one!!  Of course I drew a blank of this one, so I had to go digging through my collection.  In no particular order (and for the moment): China Glaze TTYL (blue holo), Zoya Charla (mermaid in a bottle) and Color Club What a Shock! (alien slime green).

3. What is your favorite online store?
I don't know that I really have a favorite, but I'll use Etsy as a whole.  And Bath & Body Works.

4. Is there anything you'd like to share with us that you haven't shared before?

Gah - this is the hardest question tonight!  I once drove from Bakersfield to San Francisco (250+ miles ONE WAY) to pick up my boyfriend, slept for two hours, drove back home and made it back in time to go to work.  That was a LONG time ago and that was a LONG day.  Ahh...memories.  Youth is so wasted on the young.

5. What is your favorite song of the moment?

That would definitely have to be from Silversun Pickups - but to choose just one...?  This is Future Foe Scenarios.  I wish there were a proper video for this one but there isn't (that I could find).

There ya have it.  Who am I going to tag???

Meh Monday

Another Monday is upon us.  And it's definitely a Monday - I loaded up my flash drive with pics this morning and guess what?  I left it plugged to my computer at home.  Bummer!  So...looks like this will be a random kind of post.

I saw this little game on Scandalously Polished's page, and you know I had to play... My life according to Google - Type in the following and choose from the first description found.... Be honest, don't just pick one out to be funny!

1: Type in "[name] needs" in the Google search:
Megan needs a very quiet home in a place with few or no thunder storms and lots of sunshine.  I disagree - the more thunderstorms, the better!

2: Type in "[name] looks like" in Google search:
Megan looks like a watermelon and I want to eat her. Ummm....no....?
3: Type in "[name] hates" in Google search:
Megan hates her diaper changed.  At this point in my life, I'd have to agree.

4: Type in "[name] goes" OR "[name] has gone" in Google search:
Megan has gone to Heaven to be with God.  Nobody told ME!!!

5: Type in "[name] loves" in Google search:
Megan loves Cleo.  How does *that* work?  I don't even *know* a Cleo...

6: Type in "[name] eats" in Google search:
Megan eats at Friendly's.  SURE I do.
7: Type in "[name] has" in Google search:
Megan has developed a passion for breast cancer awareness since her sister, a 2-time breast cancer survivor, was first diagnosed at age 27.  Nobody told me about this EITHER!?!

8: Type in "[name] works" in Google search:
Megan works for Zipper Mart where she earns a monthly salary plus 3.5 percent commission on her salesZipper Mart?!  So much for liking my job.

9: Type in"[name] lives" in Google search:
Megan lives a compelling life!  Ummm...I think you must have me confused with somebody else.

10: Type in "[name] died" in Google search:
Megan died of very sudden and unexpected, unknown natural causes.  AGAIN!?!  What's with the whole not-telling-me thing?  I hope I didn't suffer too much.

11.Type in "[name] does" in Google search:
Megan Does A Good Deed.  FINALLY!  Somebody noticed. :)

12: Type in "[name] will" in Google search:
Megan will always be the victim.  I ended that cycle long ago!

13.Type in "[name] is" in Google search:
Megan is crying while eating.  I don't think I've done that for a long time, but it's always a possibility.  LOL

This is my thought on most of these

LOL!!  Anyway, thanks to Ange for posting that so I had something to post about today.  Now I have a great giveaway to tell you about.  Jess over at IROCKSOWHAT (love her blog!) is giving away a $50 gift card to Urban Outfitters.  You KNOW you want it!  The entries are only open til THIS Friday, so run on over there and sign up.

Guess that's it for me today.  I'll be back tomorrow with a recipe.  Mmmmm!!  Hope you survive your Monday.

5 Random Things

I stole this from the lovely, very interesting, Nailstah. Sit back, relax and enjoy the info!

1. When I was a kid, we raised rabbits. We traveled all over California, with the rabbits in the back of the mini van, to various shows. Between my mom, sister and I, we had American Fuzzy Lops, Himalayans, and Mini Lops; my dad had Mini Rex. We were away at shows pretty much every weekend and once the fair rolled around, we were there EVERY day. Oh, did I mention we showed sheep for a while, too?

2. I was a band nerd. At one point, I was the head band nerd (read: drum major), but I found boys (one in particular, actually) and that put an end to that. I played piccolo and flute and was pretty darn good at it. I was in county honor band and/or orchestra more times that I care to count/admit. I haven't played much since moving to New Mexico, but I do love it. There's just not enough hours in the day to fit everything in.

3. I'm married to a comic nerd. Yep. And if you don't think he's certifiable - just ask me about it. He has a 6' x 8' "comic coffin" where he stores all of his books. Well, not all the books, but a lot of them. I never thought I was "in" to that kind of thing, but now I really dig it. The art, the story, the whole thing. I like watching movies based on comic books. The garage is plastered with comic art and posters - one of the walls is covered with a plastic holder that holds individual books by whatever artist or author he likes at the time. It scarred me for life once when we were moving it, so it will always be a part of me. He is working on a dream of his with his BFF: Ego Comics. OK - so that last one wasn't really about me, but he's part of me, so it counts!

4. I have 4 tattoos. A band of music notes around my right ankle I got when I was 18 (I think - that was a long time ago). A tribal red, white & blue scarab on my lower back (I don't remember when I got that one). A fairy encircled by a vine. I was scheduled to get that one on September 11th. THE September 11th. Needless to say, I got it a week later on 9/18. An N on my left wrist in a script that I made. The N is for my son, Nate. I plan on getting at least 2 more: an M for my son, Mason and a hummingbird. Don't know where and don't know when. But sometime. LOL

5. I'm an information whore! If I find something new, I have to learn everything I can about it. If that means I have to buy multiple books on the subject, I do. If that means I have to buy various/multiple supplies to do it, I do. Case in point: When I was pregnant the first time, I signed up for every website, read every book, got every pamphlet I could. When I was pregnant the second time, I did the same exact thing. I'm the same with cookbooks. Maybe it's a little bit of hoarder in me...?

I tag whoever hasn't been tagged yet and wants to do this! I love reading and learning about all my readers! =D If you don't have a blog please comment below =D

HALP ME!!!

The Zoya polish exchange is stressing me out!! Here's what I've chosen so far. The descriptions above each bottle are as per the Zoya website.

Zoya Nail Polish in Reece can be best described as: Rose metallic duochrome. A frosty hint of gold creates a unique "oil-slick" rose-gold.
Zoya Nail Polish in Delilah can be best described as: Bright red glitter in a cool toned cherry red base. The fiery, glimmering red that can add glamour to any look.
Zoya Nail Polish in Adina can be best described as: Violet metallic multichrome. A frosty hint of green and magenta creates a unique "oil-slick" look.
Here's the thing. I have to chose 3 more and I. just. can't. I had a dream about it last night - that's how stressed out this whole obsession is making me! I've put a poll up at the top of the blog. PLEASE!! Help me chose 3 more. The poll will run through the evening of June 3rd. I don't know if it'll let you vote more than once, but you're welcome to try. Some of the colors listed are a lot different than my usual choices, but I figured it's about time I step out of my comfort zone a bit! Once the votes have been tallied, I will chose the top 3 colors and order those. I'm excited to see what they end up being! Vote early. Vote often.

What are your favorite Zoya colors? Have you participated in the exchange? What colors did you get?
