Blue Me Away!

Happy Monday, Kitschies.  Another weekend has come and gone...and my boys survived.  LOL  It wasn't quite as busy as usual, but we still had plenty to do.  The weather has been perfect!  We took the boys to the park a couple times this weekend and they had a blast.  I would be Happy Megan if the weather could be 75 degrees every day.  It's been psycho day at the office - I don't know if it's something the docs has pumped in to the air, or what, but...I won't go in to it.  Long story short: somebody had a heaping side of psycho with their Cheerios this morning! *sigh*  ANYway...

I was going to post a recipe for a yummy dessert, but for some reason, those pics aren't on my flash drive.  So, I'm going to give you another mani from a couple weeks ago.

A while back, I went to CVS at lunch to stalk their makeup area.  I was happy to find that all the Sally Hansen polish was buy 1, get another 50% off!  I picked up Blue Me Away (Robin's egg blue creme) and In the Spotlight (thin strip holo glitter in clear base).
Oooh...that picture makes me look all washed out.  I guess that's what you get for taking pictures after 10 at night.  This is a very pigmented blue!  I have Orly Blue Collar and it's pretty much a dupe.  The only difference between the two are that Blue Me Away is pretty much a one-coater where Blue Collar is 2+, and BMA stained my nails.  *gasp*  I've never had this happen before!  And that was *with* a base coat!  When I took my polish off, it looked like I had zombie fingers.  Ugh!  This was a really pretty blue, but it needed more.  And I picked up In the Spotlight with the intention of it being the "more" that I wanted to layer with this blue.
The holo glitter in this was pretty, but it ended up looking kinda messy (IMO), so I ended up taking it all off and starting over.
I slapped on another coat of Blue Me Away and dug out ChG Fairy Dust.  It turns out that it was just what I was looking for!  Fairy Dust gave it just a little bit of sparkle without making it look like a glitter fairy puked on my fingers.
Here it is outside in bright, direct afternoon sun.  It doesn't look it showed up very good, but the sparkle was more evident in indoor lighting.
And the necessary blurry shot to show off the holo goodness that is ChG Fairy Dust.  It looked more like this indoors.  But not blurry, of course.

There ya go!  I promise to have a yummy recipe for you tomorrow.  And speaking of recipes, you only have today and tomorrow to sign up for my Fall Recipe Exchange.  I have a good group of people, but I'd like to add more to the list!

String/bar glitter can be so tricky; it does often look messy, yet I can't keep myself from buying it.

This blue looks great with Fairy Dust!

very pretty with fairy dust, love it. I didn't even know that you could get a side of psycho with Cheerios! All this time, I've been getting a heaping side of anti-psychotic with my oatmeal!

Fairy Dust is way better.

And, if you ever want to change jobs, you can rent these blue nails out to Kmart for blue light specials. ;D

I totally get that you would be Happy Megan all the time in 75 degree weather. I'd even be happy with 65 degree weather. But I do love the rain, and the snow... Maybe just during the summer, nice 65-80 degree range. :)

And I'm so excited for the recipe exchange. I've been gathering up my faves!

Very pretty, I have this one but still have not worn it :( I'm usually not a fan of the bar glitter, but i kind of liked how it looked over the blue

I think the secret to bar glitter is getting polishes with the micro-sized ones in them. No bar glitter can stand up to the gorgeousness of fairy dust over this blue though!

LOL @ "without making it look like a glitter fairy puked on my fingers." XD I like the subtlety of the glitter, though personally I'm a fan of the blue by itself :D
