I have a little baby bumblebee...

Good morning, Kitschies!!  Can you believe it's May?!  And guess what?  New Mexico (central and north) got snow yesterday.  Yep...snow!  In May!  It didn't really stick, but it sure was a surprise to see.  Needless to say, we didn't get out much yesterday.  I don't think it go above 40* and today we had flurries first thing and it's supposed to get to 58*.  And, of course, it's predicted to get to 80* by the end of the week.  I guess Mother Nature is mad at us about *something*.

So, where are we?  Oh, yeah.  Nail polish.  Let me just say a little something about that before I get on to the pics.  Raise your hand if you're quickly getting over the whole crackle/shatter fad.  *raises hand*  Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome and it's easy.  But...starting with OPI and then ChG and now SH...how many do we really need?  Maybe I'm alone in this, but I get it already.  Enough with the crackle/shatter polishes.  I think it's more cool when it's not quite as available.  With that said, lets look at the last crackle mani I wore.

This is ChG Cracked Concrete over ChG Lemon Fizz.  The yellow is your typical pastel yellow (a pain in the butt to apply) but I didn't have to be too careful since I was covering it with Crackle Glaze.

Indoors with flash.  I liked how this turned out (just like I had imagined/hoped it would).  The colors remind me of a pastel or faded bee.  One of the docs said it reminded him of a giraffe.  LOL

Indirect sunlight; no flash.  And, obviously, this was done before my last water marble mani (my nails are long), but they're growing out pretty fast.  I've noticed that as long as I keep my nails polished, they grow and don't break quite as easily.

So, are ya with me on the whole being *over* the crackle/shatter fad?  What is your favorite color combo for shatter?

I have ridiculously weak nails and I feel like when they're painted they break more easily. Maybe I'm just using the wrong polish :)

Loving the crackle - such a unique combo!! Your title makes me think of a song my Grandma used to sing to me; something along the lines of "I caught a baby bumble bee, won't my mommy be so proud of me, I'm bring home a baby bumble bee, ouch, it stung me!" (not sure how accurate those lyrics are though!). Thanks for sharing the fun mani!

I was never a big fan of the crackle look. And I agree with your doc, it does look like a giraffe - lol!

I like those colors together. never did the crackle thing but yeah, it seems everyone is jumping on said bandwagon. Def makes it less appealing.

Oh, and I had no idea you were in NM. We are headed out your way in August and I simply cannot wait. I think it is the place we will chose to move when the kids are done with school. Heck, if they'd have it (and their dad would let me), I'd be packing my bags already. Although snow in May is not my thing. :)

Love this. We had snow also. And...we had it this morning too! Whatever we did, we really pissed Mother Earth off. :P

I like these colors together! :D

Also, I remember this song, too! I don't know how it ended for everyone else, but the song for me always ended with squashing the bee after it stung, licking it off the hands, and getting a stomachache.

Maybe I just had a super weird preschool teacher.

Love this, I had the same idea in my head with the exact some colours... among other crackle combos I have yet to try lol

I attempted to use broken hearted over an old mani yesterday, but it would not crackle the way I wanted, I need some tips, your crackle looks perfect :)

For some reason I think about the splatter art. Love it!

ohh love this! I did a similar one not long ago (orly lemonade with cracked concrete) Other favourites are Orly Gumdrop with China Glaze Broken hearted crackle. Also OPI in my back pocket with either cracked concrete (reminds me of pumpkin) or crushed candy. I have a whole nail wheel dedicated to just crackle/shatter and it's full. i'll need to start another soon when the other OPI ones come out. Looking forward to getting the Turquoise one =)

I am not over crackle yet. I'm afraid I will be by the time SH gets theirs out but perhaps not.
