Lookin' Like Christmas

It's going to be a busy day for me!  I've had one cup of coffee, but I have a feeling I'm going to need another cup before I really get going.  I'm not making much progress in my Christmas preparations and it's starting to stress me out a bit.  All I can do is take it one project at a time and hope that everything that needs to get done, gets done.  I have a week until my vacation and a week and a day until I get to see my mom and dad.  Luckily, I'm taking the day off before we leave so I can get everything ready without having to run around the (*very* early) morning we leave.

To try to get myself in the Christmas spirit, last week I did a Christmas-inspired water marble.  I've been on a water marble kick lately...this is my third in three weeks.  Just before this mani, I had to chop off all my nails because I broke one down to the skin.  I was afraid that the marbling wouldn't look as good on nubbins, but I think it turned out just fine.  Let's see what I did, shall we?

I started with two of my favorite Zoya colors: Lisa (bright glass-flecked red) and Ivanka (glass-flecked green).  I did a layer of Ivanka and then marbled on top of that.

I'm pretty disappointed with the quality of pictures I got with this water marble.  It was so pretty IRL, but you'd never know it with the pics I got.  It's hard to take good pictures with flash when it's pretty dark when I leave for work in the morning and already dark when I get home at night.  Anyway...this is my left hand, indoors with flash.

Outdoors in indirect light.  Gah!  Such bad pics.  This was so pretty - I got a TON of compliments with this mani.  I wore it for days, which is usually unheard of for me.  But for as busy as I've been lately, I'm lucky if I have time to change my mani every third or fourth day right now.

This is my right hand, indoors with flash.  I think my thumbs were my favorite this time, though it was hard to pick because they all came out so good.

I tried to get a good pic with all my fingers together, but it didn't turn out so good.  I need more practice and/or need to use a tripod more.  I guess you're just going to have to trust me that this was a good marble.  LOL  I've found that photographing sparkly polishes are hardest to capture.  I think I need to drag out find the manual to my camera - I'd probably learn a couple things!

Well, I'm off to get stuff done!  I have a list a mile long of things I'd like to accomplish today.  I wonder how far I'll get.  Has the Christmas spirit found YOU yet?

Oh man I have had zero luck with water marbling lately! I love yours! I think the thumb is my favorite too. I've got a lot of love for glass flecks lately. :)
My mom is in love with the marble look. I have a funny feeling I'll be doing some Christmas manis for her and her sissies when I get home!

SO pretty, even if you say the pictures didn't turn out well. Good luck with all your to-dos!

PS -- Have you ever played around with the settings on your camera? My house is very poorly lit and so I use the low-light setting (pre-set setting in one of my menus) on my camera all the time, unless we're actually outside in the full sunlight. It basically opens the aperture more to let more light in and speeds up the shutter so it's not blurry (most of the time... it can't account for squirmy 1-year-olds ALL of the time ;). It's worked out fantastic for me, but I'm not sure what settings are common to all cameras :)
