Once Upon A Time

...this girl had more time on her hands than she knew what to do with. Now? Notsomuch. When I started this blog just a few months ago, I wondered how I was *ever* going to be able to come up with enough stuff to "talk" about. But here I am, with a backlog of stuff to post. How does that happen? So...happy Thursday, my dear, dear readers!!

A couple weeks ago, I won a giveaway hosted by AllYouDesire. She posted a pic of a beautiful Dior polish in Vibrant Mauve. I saw the pic and thought "I must have this!", so I signed up for her giveaway. Well, surprise, surprise! I won!! A little while later (not exactly sure just how long - but it did come all the way from the Czech Republic) I got a bubble mailer with my pretty, pretty polish. I was so excited because the color is SOOO pretty in the bottle. Purple, pink, blue, grey, pearl shimmer. Even the box was pretty! Gorgeous iridescent with so many pastel glowing colors!

It really is a pretty color - in the bottle. This is at least 3, if not 4 coats and there's still VNL. The application was perfect and the color wasn't even streaky (even for a pearl). The brush is nice and wide, which I like. I'm not usually one to complain about VNL, but I was hoping this one would be just a little more opaque. I think it would take at least a couple more coats to be totally opaque. Pearl polishes are always so pretty in the bottle and I'm always so disappointed once I apply them. I just am not a pearl person - no matter how many times I try. And in this case, I'm not a sheer person, either (I know you agree Nailstah!). I try. But I'm just not. Meh. So, there ya have it! Not my color but now I can say I own a Dior polish (I really don't see myself buying any polish at $23 a pop!).

Here's my question to you, my dear readers. Are there any colors, finishes, etc, that you totally WANT to love but just DON'T?

I don't like pearl / frosty polishes either. They leave brush strokes. Sometimes, without thinking, I end up buying them, get them home, apply and think "Aaack!" Then because I spent money and time on it, I will put a matte top coat over them and it seems tolerable for a little while - until I have time to change it!

I like sheers like that. I think they are real sexy. :) NICE.

I'm not terribly fond of frosts. But to be totally fair, I'd say it's pink flesh colored frosts I don't care for. Probably because my dear grandmother wore it. Makes me think of being grandmotherly. ;)

Megan, I've got another giveaway happening! Come take a look!

I don't like reds! :P I don't care for chunky glitter polishes but that is mostly because I don't want to pull them out and position them on my nail one by one :P

And I totally get how owning a high end top selling polish makes you giddy even if the color is just not what you wanted on the nail! :)

It is a pretty polish on you tho.

wow...umm, i really want to have an answer. i use to get my nails done every week, then my kid needed a special tutor and i gave up my mani/pedi to pay for it. now i am all about a little clear polish on my nails and pink on my toes. i like a light frosty pink for my toes.

i can see by your blog list on your sidebar there is a whole group of bloggers who are seriously into the whole nail polish thing, very cool. there was most def a time when it was all about the latest design or color for me too. i wonder if i will ever get back to those days...ya got a girl thinking..maybe!
